Looks like there are two units. One with a flush fit and one without

The flush mount kits are more expensive as they would have had to produce their own circuit board. That or they figured out a way to space the CB back in order to fit a screen in front of it.

There are currently 5 methoids for this.

1. Zackmd1 way
Pros: factory Ford software.
Cons: not PP(yet) have to do some shopping, prpgram and install work. Need a bezel.(he's working on it...support this!!) Cost: $900+1000
2. EBay swap.
Pros: easy, cheap($350) , full bezel included, supposed PP.(wait for review.)
Cons: may not get, software issues ( words miss spelled ) NOT upgradable. NOT Ford OEM software. Not PP, but very close.
3. Taobao swap.
Pros: full bezel with toggle switches. Higher quality. Uses interface module verses all new software.PP install.upgradable.
Cons: expensive (900-1000) Not Ford OEM software. Long delivery time.
4. After market.
You can use a focus/Escape/Explorer after market kit, have done one. So yes works.
Pros: really none. $300-$500.
Cons: not Ford OEM software. Need bezel. Wiring needs to be changed. Not for the faint of heart.. Sync is a PAIN to get to work. And isn't 100% ... DONT DO IT.
5. Advent module.
Pros: Ford software. Upgradable.don't need a Nav apim.
Cons: expensive($1000). For unit. ($300) for screen/apim. Need bezel and need to change wiring to premium.

I've seen all of these versions and helped install. Thus far. The "zackmd1" methoid is the best all around even though it requires the most work.
There are some other options in the making, so be patient if you don't like the current available options.

No new CB. It's just a captive 30pin HD screen. Very thin. The factory CB fits between that and the interface module. Back cover screws back on.

I'm sure the TaoBao option will get cheaper over time when more avenues are selling it. It's just how it is with these Chinese made parts.

Hey quick question, does the base Sync read text messages to you and let you reply using canned responses while driving? I like this feature on my wife's new Honda.

Hey quick question, does the base Sync read text messages to you and let you reply using canned responses while driving? I like this feature on my wife's new Honda.

You can probably find more on Sync online but my 2014 GT with the basic Sync system does this. Unfortunately the canned responses are limited but you can always use the "I'm driving, can't talk right now" (something like that) to get by until you stop driving. Plus mine appends "Sent from my Ford vehicle" (something like that) to the end of the message.

Well my Honda has yes, no, OK, on my way. Stuff like that. Good enough if it's a couple easy button presses without touching the phone. I don't expect more than that. You can read the text if you're in park, but you can have it read to you while driving and use the canned responses. I assume the Ford is like that? If so then that's great.... if I ever get one.

The base radio has Sync and that should be a basic function of Sync.

I had ordered this kit twice with no luck. I ordered it again last Sunday and continue to get the runaround and it has still not shipped. They must have only produced about 5 of these kits.
