Can you imagine how much the WRX guys are going to talk when they see how badly the GT350 drives in the snow?

Oh, dear! The look on the Mercedes S-class guys' faces when they find out that our cars aren't as quiet and comfortable as theirs.

The Prius people are going to give us a hard time about the gas mileage.

All of these are almost equally valid arguments. This car wasn't built for the quarter mile. The ZL1 is faster than the Z28 in the quarter mile, but the Z28 is the Camaro owners' yardstick. Quarter mile is for the Hellcat, and Chevy and Ford aren't going that direction right now.
Hey at least we can still stick it to the VW TDI guys about emissions

The boss does 12.4 with a good driver. So getting into the 11 club should be attainable. I can't wait for the cover of MT mag. Those 315's on the back will help on the R. Even the 305's should get the job done.

Good call Krt22, I haven't seen the specs between the two but it certainly would change the shift points between the two.

Finally got home to actually watch the videos and these are far from official 1/4 mile trials, what are they using to time these runs? Dynolicious?

As most on here, I'm looking forward to true sub 12 second time trials
They use VBOX equipment inside the car.

Bravo

oh and the W222 S-Class is an absolute dream to drive, hell just sitting in the seats with the massage function on makes me forget what I was supposed to be fixing on it.

Ah, the bittersweetness of German car ownership.

If it has the right spoiler, then it's a track pack.

To amend my previous statement, let's be honest, it doesn't take a Prius. Even the Ram truck guys can make fun of the GT350 fuel economy.

Actually they are not close to EQUALLY VALID. While the gt350 is not built to specifically be a drag car, it is not out of the realm of reasonable to hope for/expect solid 1/4 times.
Ferarri 458 italia 11.1 quarter
Corvette z06 11.2
porsche 911 gt3 11.3
nissan gtr nismo 11.1

None are built as 1/4 mile cars. All do a pretty good 1/4. (All from Motor Trend)

The gt350 is built primarily as an enthusiast car with overwhelming emphasis on road course capability.. It should however run a pretty solid 1/4. Buyers of this car shouldn't expect to be left in the dust by an accord v6 at a stop light derby.

As a note it also doesn't have a tow rating equal to a Heavy Duty Diesel, It doesn't have an airspeed equal to a lear jet, it doesn't grill a chicken breast as well as a foreman grill. Expecting it to do these things is stupid. Expecting it to be pretty zippy in the quarter is reasonable.

Refer back to my previous statement about the ZL1 versus Z28 in drag racing. Nobody with a Z28 cares about the ZL1 being faster in a straight line stock for stock. If they did, they wouldn't have paid $20K more for a Z28 that had less horsepower.

The GT350 isn't going to be slow in the quarter mile. I'm sure it will AT LEAST put up a 12.0 considering its advantages over the Boss on paper. These people saying their universes will be shattered if the automatic equipped Camaro can match or beat the GT350, which I'm sure it won't, are worried for nothing. So what if it's slower? Put slicks on it and side step the clutch. Automatic cars have an advantage in a straight line these days. The manual Camaro is .2 slower than the auto.

The Camaro isn't slow to begin with. So, even if the Mustang only ties it in a straight line, nobody buying the 350 is going to care. It will be decent in a straight line, and excellent on a road course. That's pretty much what the consumers are expecting.
