I am currently running the Racemesh Grilles on my car, and although I appreciate the quality of the part, I do not agree with the margins on this product!

Marvelous D and I sought out to create a set of grilles for the fraction of the price while maintaining the same structural integrity as well as having a solid feeling mesh! Others have gone with chicken wire or screen material, but we looked for an alternative to the "Gothic" mesh being offered from Racemesh.

The process:

Thanks brother! Very doable!

Okay looks great but, now the bottom line... how much? I just bought two upper grilles to do the DYI pony delete but this looks pretty damn AWESOME and is probably a lot less labor intensive.
You're halfway there! I'd be happy to walk you through the process, so you can do this on your own if you'd like. I'm just trying to give back to the community as opposed to creating a business venture.

However, if you feel you'd rather not try it, we can arrange something.

Nick - This looks really, really good!
Really appreciate it brother! A lot of careful planning and love went into this. I sought out to meet or beat the quality of the Racemesh Grilles. I think I accomplished that! :headbang:

This is my favorite grill design by far, how much $$$ for the finished product?
Wow! What a compliment! Thank you! As I mentioned, this wasn't an idea to start a business doing this, but I suppose if the demand is high enough, I'd have to.

Let me ask you this, what would you think these grilles should be sold for? Hard to estimate without getting your hands on them, but based on the photo, do you see this as a $100 grill, or a $400 grill as an example.

Very nice
Thank you!! :clap2:

Damn... it looks identical to my racemesh...
Right! I'm a little bummed, but what are you gonna do. This grill costed be half of what the Racemesh cost, but I did have to put time and energy into it. That said, he should be selling his grilles for $100 less.

Yep, jumping on the bandwagon here, looks great and how much?
Thanks brother! See above!

I'm sure everyone would greatly apriciate to hear about where you purchased materials and the build process, it's nice to see when someone takes time on a good build, and then shares ideas and projects with others.

Looks pretty nice in the picture. I would be interested in one as well.

Well anyone can buy the upper grill for $31. So time invested to cut them, cut the mesh, line up and bend the mesh then adhere the mesh to the grill. I have no idea what the mesh cost you. I am sure it is more than the $5 stuff at Home Depot. But I am going to assume it isn't that costly. Lets guess $10-$15? So parts cost of $45 plus half hour labor each? I think $150 - $179 would be a nice target for the upper.

The lower grill is like $42. If you could do both for $279-$329 I think you would sell quite a few. Bet hey, when your competition is at $400 - $500 for just the upper you can set the price where you want to. That is until the next guy comes along and undercuts you. So you have a couple options. Charge a lot and enjoy it while it lasts. Or make it competitive enough where you make money, mainly on the labor, and no one else will want to try to compete with you to make the same grill kit for slightly less. So do you make the quick money for a short term or decide to go long term with this?

I am interested to see where you go for this. Because I am very interested in one. I can't stand the pony or the honeycomb look of the factory grill.

If it is a stainless mesh then ya, material cost is going to be higher.
