Are you guys serious about not being able to remove the back of the pony emblem? I removed it 3 years ago and its pretty easy . Step one, remove emblem, step two get a dremel and cut along the edge. Step three, file any high spots with a file. That's it.

Thank you for the link.

Help me understand why the badge should be on the driver’s side - I’ve look at hundred of pictures and it appears that the Shelby badges are always on the passenger side.

Am I missing something?
Up until a few years ago, it's always been on the driver's side. When Ford started putting it on the wrong side some claimed it was because it blocked air flow to the intake. If you look at the grilles from the last several years you'll see the actual opening is very small. Putting the emblem on the correct side won't block air flow at all. They've just never fixed their mistake.

Looks great!

However, it’s not what I’m trying to accomplish as you still see the silhouette of the pony...I’m trying to get rid of it altogether.

I’m going for what Myshelby3425 posted just before you.

Interesting. Looks like 2009 was the last year with the badge on the driver’s side - 2010 onwards it’s on the passenger side.

Very unique. Really like it with the yellow. Not sure how it would look with the OPs black. Nice job though.

Searched thoroughly via Google & the forums here, but I'm not sure whether it is possible to completely remove the pony from the front grille./QUOTE]

OK, here ya go. It ain't cheap &, to do it right, you need to purchase both the upper & lower Bullitt grilles. It's the best looking option (IMO) out there ... including the aftermarket which run the gamut from really cheap to merely cheesy. Replaces your existing OE grilles w/zero problems. I even removed the chrome trim on upper grille & had it shot to match the rest of the grille. Has slightly increased cooling (not that you really need it) & also places the blocked off areas behind the the grille ... not in front like the OE lower grille. When done, it has a very nice, subtle, clean OE look to it. Plus, from a visual standpoint, it will make your Mustang look both wider & lower. :like:
NOTE: See photo below (1/18/2019) ...

The Ford Shelby emblem is traditionally on the passenger side. I think the Carroll Shelby models are on the driver’s side I also believe CS versions do not use the cobra emblem. Nothing is totally consistent. The 4th generation Cobras did not have the snake emblem on the 03-04 models. They used a pony emblem instead. And it was in the center. Generally, the pony is in the center. With the surround it should have the Pony Appearance Pkg. If it is a tri-bar emblem on the driver’s side, then it should be a special edition like Mach 1, Boss 302, MCA, California Specials, etc.

The 1st gen Shelbys (1965/66) used the OE Mustang tri-color (normally on the front fender) placed on the driver's side of the GT350 grille. The snake was 1st used on the fender of the 2nd gen Shelby (1967). Also the 1967 Shelby gained its own unique grille emblem (w/Cobra) that was now on the passenger side of the grille. 1967 was also the last year that Shelby American produced the cars in CA.

Here is a shot of the Bullitt grilles (upper & lower) installed on my 2019 PP2. The chrome trim was removed, buffed & shot to match the rest of the grille.
That looks great.

What did it cost you all in?

Counting the cost of the grilles (upper & lower), prep & painting of the chrome trim (which was actually removed from the grille for this work) & the R&R of the front end for installation ... I was all in for south of $1,000. However, having it all done prior to purchase, the cost was just feathered into the cost of Mustang. And being dealer installed OE parts, it's all under warranty. After looking at all of the Ford & aftermarket grille options for the 2018/19 Mustang, the absolute second I saw the Bullitt grille, I knew it was exactly what I wanted. It's clean looking &, after the repaint of the chrome trim, it offers up the subtle look I prefer.

My apologies, but, to be honest, it took me awhile to figure out how to post pics on this site. :headbang: Senility is not near as much fun as they make it out to be.
