Anyone know if NAV can be added to SYNC 3 if it didn't come with it it from the factory?

Likely not. Nav is controlled in the BCM, and it seems the maps are also contained in the memory of Sync3 now (there's no longer an SD card slot). In the past, some cars have had tools to unlock this in MyFord Touch, but it was vehicle specific. Sync3 is quite a bit different though because of the stored maps. We'll ultimately have to wait and see.

I would think its a DEALER flash of the Software to make SYNC3 have Navigation. From What I see it seems to not only have a WIFI (It connects to my homes WIFI), It seems to have a GPS receiver directly on the dash as well. For 911 feature I DO belive it has positioning capabilities. I need to call my dealer and find out if its possible. Or ask the ford technology team.

A dealer can only do it if Ford allows them to (likely not though). The programming software the dealers use now sends your VIN into the system, and if your VIN didn't have "X" feature from the factory, it won't allow them to enable it. This came around mainly because of this, some dealers would do this for customers, and pocket the money they'd charge the customers.

Wow.. Didn't even think of that. But I mean if a dealer is going to install the nav for me then obviously they have to pay their due's to ford. I don't think ford would lock me out just because of the dealer but I have heard weirder things.

I haven't heard of Ford offering to enable Nav to a car that doesn't have it from the Factory. Doesn't mean it isn't possible, though.

Lots of (things) that some Dealers say can`t be done or enabled can in fact be done by someone who has the knowledge and has an IDS Programmer and knows how to unlock the feature in the Vehicles BCM Body Control Module. I wanted my DRL`s Daytime Running Lights activated on my 2011 Fiesta as well as my 2013 C-Max Hybrid. Several Dealers said it was not possible to do unless it was a Canadian destined built Vehicle (or) ordered with a valid Fleet Identification Number FIN. Wrong....I found a Ford Dealer that had a very knowledgable Tech that did the magic trick in less then 15 minutes!:ford:

Yes, I'm aware of that. What may not be so easy with Nav this time is that the maps themselves are no longer on physical media.

what are the chances that the new head unit will plug into the harness in the 2015's? :)

Practically none. The SYNC computer is completely different as well as the programming in the BCM.

I would not go as far as to say practically none.

There has already been a guy that swapped from Sync2 to Sync3 in an SHO.

I have no doubts someone will figure out how to swap to Sync3 in an 2015 Mustang.

That's why I said practically. To the OP's question, you can't simply swap the head unit. There's a lot more behind Sync3 than just that.

Waiting for the next version is simply a futile waste of time and effort. While everyone is pre-ordering and getting inline for the Apple`s newest iPhone 6S, guess what? In less then a year it too will be obsolete and replaced by the iPhone7. Just pull the trigger and enjoy whats available when your ready to buy and forget about perpetual "buyers regret".

Not being cynical, its just a fact of life. Your Born, You Live, and you eventually Die! In the mean time, why frustrate yourself with the fact that something bigger and better is constantly looming around the corner? Yesterday is History and (tomorrow) is but a Mystery, right?

It would be nice if more manufacturers did like what Tesla is doing. All systems run the same core OS, and they just constantly update it. Instead of this constant rip and replace. In my last F-150 I think there was ONE sync update the whole time I owned it.
