My long awaited 2016 GT Convertible just arrived! I went to pick the car up and found numerous metals shavings/or dirt baked into the door jamb, this dirt is so apparent it scratches on finger nails.

The Ford dealer downplayed the issue and insisted I take the car and fix it later. I am getting an unbeatable deal on this car and the dealer is not wanting to order another and I do not want to wait forever for another car anyway, the odds are most of the current incentives (special offer, lease conquest and customer cash will be gone) after waiting months more.

Ford wants to repaint part of the car. What would you do? Take the car with a partial new paint job? leave the deal? This really sucks. Ford still has big quality issues, how can I see this with my naked eye and Ford cannot?

get a 15 and get zero % is what i'd do lol

but no I wouldn't buy a repainted brand new car. There will be 15s and plenty more 16s coming to choose from.

That's hard to answer, man. You have to estimate how much buyer's remorse this flaw could cause you, and base your purchase decision upon that. It varies for everyone. If the flaw wasn't too severe, I'd probably take the car and not even repaint it. If the flaw was so severe as to require a repaint job, I'd have to reconsider the deal. Personally.

A new car should not have PAINT issues..I"m sure the Dealer wouldn't buy it if the tables were turned.Don't accept it..Bite the bullet for now..

Cannot do

The 2016 was Invoice less $1250 and another 2,500 IN INCENTIVES.

The 2015 was actually more expensive.

not bad. 0% makes more sense and you can beat that on 15 out there.

either way we need pics... and if it's in the door jam it's not a big deal. it's probably from where the robot stopped and started spraying or vice versa. not like it's on the hood or some where more than obvious.

I inquired about some minor paint flaws on my car at the local stealership to satisfy my curiosity. The Ford Service Manager told me his guys would do a worse job than the Ford Factory and he suggested I leave my car alone. I left my car alone. If the dealership re-paints your car, it will be worse than what you have and the finish will never be the same. Wait for another Mustang.

It seems the defects from 2014 have carried on and continue to pass through sleepy inspectors.

I would not take it. I said no to a 2015 Mustang GT just because it had the bumper drilled. Another came along just like it without the bumper drilled so I picked that one. Different dealer of course.

It's a new car and not a cheap one by any means. Be as meticulous and picky as your want!

IMO NEVER pay for something you aren't COMPLETELY satisfied with. If you've waited this long you can wait some more. Tell the dealer you don't want it you want another ASAP have them pull a trade with another dealership or walk. No way you pay all 35k+ on a car and it isn't EXACTLY what you want.

Exactly what part of the car ... just inside the door jambs some? If so, then it might be worth doing since you won't be staring at the door jambs like you would the outside of the car. Door jambs on this car are never as nice as the outside body paint is.

Chances are if you pass on this and wait or look for something else you will find an imperfection in that too. That may be more frustrating. Before I got mine I checked my local dealer and walked the lot and literally found something wrong with every single mustang there was interested in. Whether it be a paint flaw or body panel alignment that's without getting inside any of the cars. If you're like me and your OCD is a daily uphill battle you WILL find something wrong with any car you get. Or have my luck and find a car you're happy with and on the drive home get a chip in your windshield...if you don't find anything wrong with one on the lot you will when you wash it for the first time haha

If it's not on an exterior surface, I'd take the amazing deal and get a professional high end detailer to fix it. Anyone skilled in paint correction should be able to fix it pretty easily (depending on severity, of course). Good luck whichever way you decide.

All of them have bubbles and other shit on the door jamb even the 2015. I have seen 5 different 15's and they all have the flaws. Live with it.

I would do what Robbie suggests, but sooner rather than later because I understand this area could develop rust.

I have two very minor runs; one below a taillight and one midway down the crack of the driver's door. Didn't notice them for months. I am not gonna mess with it, esp because the paint is hard-to-match Ruby Red. Besides, the door may get dinged at some point. If I must have a dinged door, I would prefer it match the rest of the car. :headbonk:
