So I've noticed that sometimes when I shift into second at full power, it doesn't just chirp, or kick the back tires out, but it completely goes sideways. The front of the car is still pointed the way I want it to go, but it just starts moving laterally to the left. Nothing crazy or scary, but certainly if I were on a divided highway or a car was next to me, I'd have to back off of it.

This has never happened in any other car I've hard, but I've never had a fast car with an IRS before. Is they related?

Also, I decided to try it in normal driving mode, with traction control completely on, and it still did it once.

And input gents?

That is normal with the factory tires. Too much power and torque for them to hook up after 6000 rpm, especially if you are shifting really quick. It will happen from second to third as well, so better watch out for any loose pony:thumbsup:

IRS has nothing to do with it. Stick axles do it, too.

Any car with a good bit of power will cause the rear end to go side to side on aggressive shifts (manual transmission). Not all the time but it will happen. This car has too much power to just "chirp" the tires. Those lesser powered cars, do the "chirp".

You have to learn to control your car and when you decide to get on it. No need to wreck it.

I can lay down 20+' of rubber on my second gear shifts. I can leave 10' going from 2nd to 3rd and even lay down rubber going from 3rd to 4th.

More information? Is this coming out of a turn, or just hard acceleration in a straight line? When you say "still pointed the way I want it to go", do you mean the yaw angle doesn't change when the car "moves laterally"?

430 ponies will easily get you sideways in any car.

Correct. The yaw angle delta is zero, but the car is moving laterally to the left. That's the part that's very unusual for me.

Every other fast car I've had would have a noticeable change in this angle if I hit second too hard. I was just wondering if this is normal and why. First world problems.

Mine does this on straight line acceleration. What is even more interesting is a fast high rpm shift from 1 to 2 going around a corner. Normally stability management kicks in hard and fast in NORMAL mode, but if you do a hard 1 to 2 shift around a corner, that ass kicks WAY out lol.

This is my guess, the fronts are losing traction too somehow? Weight shift during a gear change may unload the front tires a bit, when the rears bite and start to try to overtake the front the fronts are slipping and following the rears maybe? Really I'm just making stuff up here, but sounds good, right?

I must be doing it all wrong. Mine will bark second and chirp third at wot even in track mode with stability off. Never had it try to come out except on damp roads.

So you're saying it's essentially strafing under acceleration? That or I'm not comprehending how the car is moving laterally without any slip angle.

The rear tires are breaking traction which will cause them to move in the direction of least resistance (e.g. cambered road), but that wouldn't explain why the front would shift as well.

My car will always break the rears under a hard 1-2 without the traction aids, especially with a short shift, but unless I'm adding in some kind of steering input and/or the road isn't level, there isn't any lateral movement.

Just to be very clear (please excuse me), is this straight-line, or accelerating out of a curve?

Weird if it is the former. You're doing it right, if it is the latter.
Straight line. Just trying to get some 0-60 data.

I'm not comprehending how either, lol. Which is why I'm so baffled. The front of the car is quite elevated when I shift, and I do quite a good 1-2 shift if I do say so myself, so maybe the front just has less traction because it's in the air. Like I said, I've never seen it before myself, and I was even more perplexed that it happened once in standard mode.

Could be the road. Maybe I'll try it somewhere else and see if it's consistent there too.
