I've been looking all over and I am still having trouble understanding what the base GT350 comes with compared to my 15 GT PP.

I know the obvious stuff like the Engine, Body Re-design etc.... but do I need to buy the GT350 Track Pack option too? It looks like the base GT350 already comes with the Steel Strut Tower Brace, The Larger Brakes, Torsen Rear End, Track Apps, etc.... and I don't care about the Magnetic Suspension.

Based on my minimal knowledge I'd buy the base GT350 and add the R Spoiler and Front Splitter.

Oh and can I order the Black Racing Stripes with the Red Outline on the Shadow Black Paint on a GT350? The Configurator only shows that as an option on the R.

Sorry for all the dumb questions!

There are two different stripes. Non R gets gloss, in your case, black with a white outline and the R gets matte with red outline. The R spoiler will be very costly I'd wait for an aftermarket one that is not CF. I'd go 350 base if thats what you are looking for. Not that much more over a loaded GT with PP.

Id probably just add the stripes after since I really like the Flat Black with Red outlines.

We already have the 15 GT PP as a daily driver this would be our 3rd weekend car. :)

Go for the 350 (if you can find one at a price you are happy with) from what I understand it'll be so worth in. BTW the track pack has magneride.

Unless you plan on it being a daily driver that might see some track time then get a Tech Pack.

I'm so torn between Tech and Track. I see advantages and disadvantages of both.

The biggest problem for almost all cars on track is thermal management. Brakes, engine coolant, engine oil, transmission oil, and differential oil are all pushed very hard on the track compared to what they typically experience on the street.

It is very common for cars to reach thermal protection limits on a hot day, even over the course of a 20 or 30 minute session.

If you plan to track the car, and don't mind potentially taking a few cool-down laps on hot days, then you'll be fine with any of the versions. If you want to push the car for an entire session, with no interruptions (except for all those slower drivers you'll be passing - just kidding), then I think the Track Pack would be the way to go.

It will likely be possible to easily add most of the coolers to a non-TP car using the aftermarket, but the transmission might be a different story. The factory TP transmission is plumbed for a cooler, while the non-TP transmission is not. I'm sure it can be done, but may be more involved.

I personally went with the Track Pack. I only do maybe 4 track days per year, but often the temps are very warm (90 to 100 degrees), and I don't want to be wasting my time on track with cool down laps. I really like to get in a groove, so having to throw a couple cool-down laps in the middle of a session really takes away from the fun for me. I therefore wanted to throw as much cooling at the car as I could.

I think he's asking how the base GT350 (no tp) would stack up against a GT PP in general. Which I was wondering the same question since I have a GT w/pp. Obviously in a straight line the 350 will take it all day, but as far as a road course, I would think the base 350 would be ahead of a GT PP. Don't think it would kill it like the 350 track pack or 350R would, but it would be a ahead by a good bit.
I think a GT PP with decent bolt ons/tune and maybe a few suspension upgrades would hang easily with the base 350, again that's all IMO.

Wheels and tires are a big difference, but if you can fit the larger size on the GT PP the difference in absolute grip and cornering might not be that much. I realize you can make up the 90 hp difference easily with an $8k power adder. By the time you get the GT PP upgraded to keep up, you are paying about the same $ - for a car that you just voided the warranty on.

However, if you track your car, you can have just as much fun with a non-upgraded GT PP that has full warranty coverage as with a GT 350. You might not feel as physically well-endowed, but you probably won't be able to tell a major difference in performance unless you're pro level.

This.

As I see it, I would need to bump to the Tech Pack to be on an even playing field to my GT in terms of goodies, and to me it just isn't worth the extra ~$20K bump. I'd probably never hit a track (just local back roads), so there's that too. And I'd miss my Porno Red seats....

Sigh. But if only I had tons of disposable income.....

There is literally no difference in the speed at which the base and track pack cars can go. The only difference is that the track pack car can go for longer because of the coolers. Yeah it has MagneRide but the main benefit is for ride quality. Anyway, the difference in speed would probably be negated by the 40 lbs the TP car has vs the base.

MagneRide = better ride quality & better handling...
Ride quality, certainly. I'd like to see comparative lap times to back up the claim of better handling and justification of the price. Not aiming that statement at you, but at Ford. If anyone has data please share it.

MagneRide = better ride quality & better handling...
Absolutely... many folks think that the main benefit of MagRide is merely or solely the variable (soft & firm) damping but actually in addition to that the huge benefit is the optimal balance & handling which in turn = better corner entry/exit on the curves, bends, and track. It also sustains less body roll than standard non-adjustable dampers plus the ability of thousands of damping variations it can perform in milliseconds. I have it on my C7Z and it is well worth having it on or off the track.
