Which car to get? Manual or auto?

No, it doesn't. It works just fine. If you want manual, go get it. Otherwise you're going to regret it. And don't listen to "just as much fun..." nonsense because it's nothing more than nonsense...

A "stalled" auto (big stall converter in place of the factory torque converter) transforms a Coyote Automatic into a beast that is MORE FUN than a Coyote with the MT82 manual trans. How can I assert this? I've owned both! My '11 GT had the Brembo Pkg and MT82. Terrible trans. I've owned 8 Mustangs and 6 of those were manual transmissions, so I've historically been a manual trans guy. However, that MT82 soured me so badly that I traded in a perfectly good low miles '11 GT to get a '14 GT with the 6R80 automatic. The 6R80 is bulletproof while the MT82 is riddled with issues (don't want to take my word for it? simply google it).

So all of you automatic guys what are you doing about wheels? I like the black wheels that come with the PP but as you know you can't get the PP with an auto. All the wheels that come on the automatics are 9" wide and the tires they come with are like 255 sized tires. That is not a very big tire. Are all of you upgrading your wheels and tires right away after purchasing the car? I know 275's aren't much bigger than 255s but they are something at least. I think civics come with 255 tires these days. What were you thinking Ford?

I should say that I have a powerful turbo Camaro drag car that is stalled with a TH400 with a RMVB. I am well aware of how fun a stalled auto can be. With that being said since I already have that I think that is what is making me want the manual. I don't want a car with lots of issues though. I just want to drive it and have fun for now.

I am reusing my black 19x9.5 SVE drifts from my 2013. You know you can buy the PP replicas, I think American Muscle sells them, not sure if any other vendors do or not.

No I did not realize that. I see them now though. They come in a 19 x 10 too so I can actually go with a 295 tire. That sounds even better yet. Plus I will save the $2500 from not going with the performance package.

agreed but some of it I can do myself fairly easily like the strut tower brace and some of it I don't care about. The only other thing I really care about is the brembo brake upgrade.

I don't have to google anything, anti-MT-82 militia is hard to miss here on this forum ;-) I can just say that mine is completely fine. Run auto-x with it and feels great.
Fun depends on ones definition of what fun is. For many auto and fun are words that don't go together. I'm one of them. Don't go to drag strip, don't do "pulls" on the highway or on the streets.

I won't sit here and pretend that some of the MT-82s don't have issues. The factory MT-82 that came with my '11 was a disaster. Ended up having 3 clutch kits, flywheel, and finally a new trans replaced under warranty. The replacement MT-82 was great. My friend with an '11 bought about a month after mine had zero issues with his for something like 80k miles when he traded it in. The one in my '15 whines but is otherwise fantastic, which I'll take.

Bottom line is that I don't feel enjoyment in auto cars. The mechanical involvement of a manual can't be duplicated in an auto and that's what I truly enjoy. To each his own.

Well I am going for the manual. Hopefully I am not sorry. I drove one and loved the way it drove and shifted. Maybe they are better for 2015.

I did drive both and I loved the way they both drove. I liked the feel of the auto in sport mode but it was a lot of fun banging gears also.

i am in your same situation tyler. ordered black 2016 GT FB. here in new zealand we get the PP with the auto as standard and also the MT costs the same as the AT so no issues there. my current car is a auto 335d. I've had heaps of sports cars with manuals as well and it seems that this car should be driven with a manual. a good vid on you tube ,MPGomatic guy ,drives both manual and auto GT's . interesting comments. good luck. I'm pretty sure ill go manual, have until oct to decide and will test drive some when I'm state side next month.

I like being engaged when I am stomp in and romp in, so I prefer a manual trans. I must be lucky because I do not have any of the problems other people are having with their manuals. I do thumb and forefinger shifting with mine using the clutch. I use my whole hand speed shifting with out the clutch. It comes down to what you prefer not what other people think or want.
