Think I am going to do the same. However I think I am gonna paint the intake runners blue also. I will also paint the lighter gray on the engine cover glass black as well.

John, that paint job looks excellent. Mind sharing paint/clear coat brands you used and steps you took?

I am going to leave the intake runners and the gray on the top cover alone and paint the black piece in the center blue as well.

1 can of duplicolor engine enamel in Ford blue:

1 can of duplicolor engine enamel clear:

I sprayed my covers down with brake clean that I had at the house and wiped them down with a microfiber cloth to get rid of any oily residue. Then I did light coats of blue about 10 minutes apart. I think I got about 4 coats on each cover from the one can. I sprayed from each direction on each coat meaning I would start spraying the bottom and get full coverage on the cover, then spray from the top, then from the front side, then from the rear. Once I sprayed from all four directions I let that coat sit about 10 minutes and sprayed again. Coats 1 and 2 were light coats and coats 3 and 4 were a little heavier but not heavy enough to get runs. Once the can was empty I waited 10 minutes and applied clear coat the same way. I only got about 2 coats per cover out of the clear can as I put them on a little heavier. I let it dry for about an hour and a half and gently popped them on the car.

I'm not a professional painter in the least but I think they turned out great. I'm happy with them. It was very easy. Good luck!

Cool looking coil covers. I wish there was something as nice for the V6.
