Base GT with PP here and LOVE it!!!! I am also baffled by the people swapping out the 3.73's!!!! They totally wake the car up and when commuting I just go from 2 to 4 to 6 as was suggested above!
I'm assuming you double clutch to do that? I think it would be really awkward to go from the 2-gate, to 4-gate, etc...in one fell swoop

Nope, with the torque the car has you barely even notice. Of course you're not going to have quite the power as 1-2-3-4-5-6, but I've noticed an extra 2-4 mpg going 2-4-6 in the city. It is an odd sequence to get used to, but no double clutching is necessary.

it's not awkward at all.. I go 2,4,6 or 1,3,5,6 regularly gear ratios are close enough

My patterns tend to be

2/4/6
1/3/5/6
1/2/3/4/6

6 gears but I shift like it's a 3, 4, or 5 speed tranny most of the time.

I mean, you could just buy a non-PP car and stick Brembo stickers on the calipers.....

is starting in second bad? Feels like you'd have to slip the clutch quite a bit more

I drove several 2015s and I can say without any hesitation that, to me, the Performance Package is worth every penny I spent on it. (I also got a base GT + PP and ESP.) I found the ride much more firm and taut, poised.

I love the response of the 3.73, I don't find I have to shift any more than I have to with my 5-speed Honda Civic Si, I don't skip gears either, but then again, I love shifting (I'm not driving in stop and go rush hour traffic either, though).

Of course, were I destined for the drag strip, I would have more strongly considered an auto. But I'm more interested in the track, not the drag strip.

Simple answer is test drive both - GT PP and GT non-PP. Then make your call. Don't worry about the noise about what other people like... it's about what YOU like.

I regret not buying the PP a little, but I did an HPDE at a road course and my non-PP GT did fine.

I like that I saved money and I like that I don't have those black rims. The Ford brakes are actually really good and I didn't have any problems with fade at the track.

I miss the 3.73 gears big time from my last Mustang that had them.
