My '11 GT weighed 3579lbs.Not this again, 3722 to 3744 is a gtpp with fuel and nothing removed. Your other weights are with 0 fuel and no trunk junk. And your s550 weight is misleading, terrys car is heavier than your 11gt. You are just taking misleading numbers and stating them as facts when they are not with equal gas or oem equipment
Terry's '11 weigh 3563lbs
Terry's 1st Customer's '15 GT weighed 3593lbs
Terry's loaded GTPP Premium weighed 3716lbs
We were pretty happy. The weight gain was very minimal compared to the cars we replaced.
I have no idea why this bothers so many :(
Edit: Our savior here is airbag removal. There was maybe 30lbs of airbag in the S197, there are about 40-50lbs of extra airbag this Gen. Another thing is Ford's weight loss efforts in the GT and EB. They were minimal at best. Everything in the Mustang got heavier this Gen from the brakes to the wheels. All of our previos S197 weight loss areas are still on the car and, we actually get a little more savings from the S550.
I can discuss this here.
Cage construction in the smaller Mustang helps too. Some have saved 20lbs over the S197's cage.
In the end, a 3300lbs Pro car is very easy to do this Gen as is. The S197 had to use race wheels and exhaust to reach 3300lbs.
