Not this again, 3722 to 3744 is a gtpp with fuel and nothing removed. Your other weights are with 0 fuel and no trunk junk. And your s550 weight is misleading, terrys car is heavier than your 11gt. You are just taking misleading numbers and stating them as facts when they are not with equal gas or oem equipment
My '11 GT weighed 3579lbs.

Terry's '11 weigh 3563lbs

Terry's 1st Customer's '15 GT weighed 3593lbs

Terry's loaded GTPP Premium weighed 3716lbs

We were pretty happy. The weight gain was very minimal compared to the cars we replaced.

I have no idea why this bothers so many :(

Edit: Our savior here is airbag removal. There was maybe 30lbs of airbag in the S197, there are about 40-50lbs of extra airbag this Gen. Another thing is Ford's weight loss efforts in the GT and EB. They were minimal at best. Everything in the Mustang got heavier this Gen from the brakes to the wheels. All of our previos S197 weight loss areas are still on the car and, we actually get a little more savings from the S550.

I can discuss this here.

Cage construction in the smaller Mustang helps too. Some have saved 20lbs over the S197's cage.

In the end, a 3300lbs Pro car is very easy to do this Gen as is. The S197 had to use race wheels and exhaust to reach 3300lbs.

Yes, but none were curb weight. You seem to miss this point every time.

No, I see your point. Official curb weights are 86lbs apart, that is fact.

The car replacing our cars were only 15-30lbs heavier on the scales.

That is apparently the issue here... If I optioned for the Performance Pack, it would have been 65-85lbs heavier... but would have had far heavier equipment and ran circles around a Boss 302LS.

There is also more sound system weight in the S550 with the 6 Speaker system vs. the old 4. I think an amp comes standard now but not sure.

Guys weighting a car without fuel is just straight up stupid, all of the manufacturers curb weights are based on full tank of fuel! That is on the side the old camaro weight being 3860lbs includes 3 more gallons of fuel than the mustang which is about 20 lbs! You take that out and the car weights 3840 vs 3815 lbs s550! If the new camaro did really loose even 100 lbs than we have a problem!

Haha, And it's 200 lbs.

I think a 3700 lbs Alpha based 440-450 hp LT4 powered Camaro is going to be a problem for the Mustang.

This being said, Ford is heavily invested in aluminum, and has gone on the record with regards to the S55 being a well engineered platform that then intend to use for a while and make money on.

I forsee alot of selective Aluminum bonded panels in the future, like the Cadillac CT6, and GT350 lightweight components trickling down. This is why Ford Performance has realigned sponsorship. If the Motorsport doesn't benefit a production vehicle; they don't fund it.

I see a 5.2 liter cross plane crank version of the Voodo coming when the Stang gets a 8 or 9 speed auto. the motor might be a 5.2 version of the 2015 coyote.

I highly doubt Ford will be increasing displacement on their volume model engine anytime soon.

Race weight? You mean to tell me you race on full?

That is stupid...

The 2 GT's we are looking at is within 6-12lbs of our '11 and '13.

So... read it and weep...

The Camaro has never seen a Mustang with IRS, big rubber and an optimal foot print. I hope they are not relying on output to win this round. I can tell you right now, the ATS-V needs a lot of work and I highly doubt the 6th Gen will keep those dimensions.

Like the Camaro is the only car new here... and it's based on a sedan. That is too funny...

Looks like it is using a similar 63/64 inch track. This would make the 6th Gen about 75/76 inches wide. The 6th Gen Camaro isn't a small car mind you. Unless this is a CT6 but it looks like 6th Gen panels to me.

Pill,
I m not talking about race weight my friend, a brand new car with a spec from the manufacturer! I really don't care if you leave a quarter tank or half a tank fuel in the tank! The accurate measurement is always with a full tank if thats the case hey everyone i have a s550 which weights 3600 lbs so its lighter than even the s197!
