I agree, the color combo is great. I like how they matched up the interior and the caliperswow the red interior on black looks so good. I keep thinking about how awesome this car looks!![]()

Whoa...that is cool! I think it is a link to a secret treasure! When installing the CDC light bar, I had the bottom seat cushion out. I figured I'd pull the seat back out as well to see if I could create a way to have access to the trunk. There is something that looked like the ignition key would fit in... and by golly it does! I hope I did not perform some master reset :eyebulge: because I turned the key in the slot a few times. ;)
What does this do? Is it unique to the convertible? I have no idea how to find "Secret Key hole" in the manual. ;)

There definitely IS space. A 36" wide sheet would fit flat (wider if there secret treasure key was not there. ;) The height is 9". Measuring from the back of the trunk forward for an 8' long Home Depot itemWhoa...that is cool! I think it is a link to a secret treasure!
I have no idea, but you've peaked my curiosity!
BTW, it looks like there IS a path to the trunk there, right? Wonder how hard it would be to modify to have fold-down seats...would be perfect for putting some longer pieces of wood, bike in the trunk, skis, etc...
Thanks for this Magneticman. HA! now I even rembering seeing that page as I skimmed that area for other things a week or so ago. The picture 'did not compute', so my mind said move on. LOL :headbonk:covered on page 59 of the owner's manual

Yeah this would be a great mod if we could put our heads together and figure it out. May be time for a thread in the mod section! There definitely IS space. A 36" wide sheet would fit flat (wider if there secret treasure key was not there. ;) The height is 9". Measuring from the back of the trunk forward for an 8' long Home Depot item, it would need to rest to the right of the gear shift lever and comes a few inches short of hitting the center stack. If at an angle from the drivers side of trunk, you might fit a few 2 x 8's! Sweet.
It will not be easy to modify to easily 'tilt' bottom of seat back up to allow trunk pass thru. The seat back mounts by two brackets that extend below the seat bottom to the floor. You would have to not only remove those, but cut away 3 inches or so of the plastic seat backing. :eyebulge:
On top of that, the spring connections for the upper attachment are a bit of a pain to dislodge because the top edges of the seat hit the plastic caps that are next too it (you know behind your mythical Toneau Capsaddle
.
Because having a passthru is a very important feature to me, I will be back to this with my thinking cap when I have more time (hopefully w/o my sawsall ;))
I sure wish Ford had designed this in (easily), but they probably the trunk needed to be secured from the cabin. I guess designing a lock would have been to tough! :headbonk:

Good to hear your interest (and background!Yeah this would be a great mod if we could put our heads together and figure it out. May be time for a thread in the mod section!I will have to take some time to dig into this whenever I get some time to play with it this summer. If you have any ideas, let me know! I'm a mechanical engineer and have access to some 3D printing and a model shop I can beg to make some stuff for me.
Mine has 15%, sorry if I mis-read in a previous thread! 50% seems pointless to me....just go with one of those clear tints if you just want to block some heat (which I don't see why you would in a convertibleGiddyup,
Glad you chimed in here. I have been meaning to clarify what tint % you have. Long ago on the tint thread I had asked for pics of anyone with 50% tint. Most people go darker, but I am considering a more subtle look. You posted, "Yes I have that" and you posted some pics. Granted it is hard to get a picture that shows the difference in tint levels (mostly they all look very dark in photos). Yours in those pics looked pretty dark. I wonder if you misread and thought I was asking about 5%! (limo tint). ;)
So Giddyup, what % tint do you have?
Visual mod would be the best fit. I have a lot of work to do this summer!Good to hear your interest (and background!). Yes, whomever dives into this important pass thru mod first needs to start a thread on it! Then we can all chime in with ideas and experiences. As I started to type some ideas.... Hell, I'll just go start that thread!
What section would you say is best? It is not really a 'visual mod', but that might be the closest fit. What do you think?
The guy at CDC said it added rigidity, but he IS selling them! ;) I have not pushed mine before or after to tell. Actually since only allen bolts hold it in, They could loosened do a test. I know on my 2000 Sebring convertible, when I floor jacked a rear jack point, the whole side of the car lifted. I wonder if it would be a proper test to jack at a rear jack point with and w/o the bar secured in place, measuring some point in front of or behind the front wheel for a height difference. Even if that did show a measureable difference, no telling if that would translate into roadability stiffness, which I'd assume is your ultimate question.Question for those that have installed the CDC light bar: have you noticed any increased rigidity with the body structure? I know it is not really a structural part, but I would think that tying the B-pillars together would tend to have similar benefit as a strut tower brace.
