So why has nobody tried running a restrictor at the turbo?

Those are particulate emissions mostly due to injector spray pattern, fuel rail pressure, and injection timing. It's a case-by-case thing. Some current engines don't make a whole lot of smoke. It has to do with how the engine was designed and tuned from the manufacturer.Don't all DI cars puff some smoke when you get on them? My un-modded Focus ST smokes a little on full throttle.
I don't know about everyone else but it's not fuel (tune) that's causing the smoke it's oil seeping by the seal hence the title of the thread "blue smoke" plus the smell is of oil burningIt's more likely they will change the fuel system to raise the fuel pressure, which can make the smoke and particulates go away.
that's normal stormtrooper I got that even prior to removing the stock downpipe anyhow its more apparent now with the catless downpipe in the am. bumping the idle has helped with smoke at idle but one thing I noticed when sitting on an incline the smoke came back:lol: the whole restrictor and bumping the idle only mask the issue at hand they do help but the turbo is still leakingNow when u do a cold start. I do get alot of condensation. It's not blue smoke. It's not as thick. Have some videos if yall wanna see
Just thought I would share:
Yeah, that is standard condensation smoke.
Orange: Just checked this thread after a week. As noted higher up, I've got the same thing going on. So, they are replacing your turbo? You've conclusively determined the turbo leaks?that's normal stormtrooper I got that even prior to removing the stock downpipe anyhow its more apparent now with the catless downpipe in the am. bumping the idle has helped with smoke at idle but one thing I noticed when sitting on an incline the smoke came back:lol: the whole restrictor and bumping the idle only mask the issue at hand they do help but the turbo is still leaking
Yes after checking things out myself & then touching base with the dealer they came up with the turbo on the exhaust side seeping out the seal so I'm just waiting for the warranty one to come in. Adam from MAP bumped the idle up which helped allot but just yesterday I was pulling into my brothers driveway the car was at an incline & the smoke screen came back..:frusty: but once I got it back on level ground it burned off then the smoke dissipatedOrange: Just checked this thread after a week. Well, if that's the case, I guess I better start reverting to stock and visit the dealer.Yes after checking things out myself & then touching base with the dealer they came up with the turbo on the exhaust side seeping out the seal so I'm just waiting for the warranty one to come in.
