Technical specs of the Tremec TR-3160 show that it is rated for up to 425 lb-ft. This should be a pretty good indication of the production numbers, also sounds like forced induction will not be an option with this transmission.

Article is on the front page of SVT Performance.

I said long time ago non-DI v8 max torque is about 80%-81% of the engine displacement.

meaning the 5.2L voodoo won't be over 416lb-ft.

Torque won't be limited by the transmission. The "torque ratings" are hilariously misunderstood. According to some ill-informed people, the MT-82 is rated for less torque than what the factory Coyote puts out. There's so much more to it than just the number on the sheet of paper.

People are putting superchargers on their MT-82-equipped GT's.

Its rated at 405ft lb at 6,614lbs gross vehicle weight for the ratios released to be used with the GT350 (6 speed, single overdrive, 3.25 1st). Ford/SVT/Ford Perf will make sure this transmission is suitable. The only thing I still don't like on it the remote link shifter

People always freak out on transmission ratings so this is easily rated for the application even in racing duty.

Mathematically speaking at the GT350's guesstimated weight it should be good for close to 750 lb-ft. But I'm no expert on these matters.

Something very interesting in the article on SVT is that the pump and plumbing for the oil coolers are cast in to the transmission, and cars not equipped with coolers from the factory will come with a different transmission that does not have the plumbing cast in. If true, that will make it more challenging to add the coolers to a tech pack car.

Nice! Good info. The vehicle weight at which the transmission is torque tested will affect the rating.

MT82 rated at 390 @ almost 10,000lbs. Tremec typically rate the transmission for the specific application (except for the C6's, all were 4000lbs). Seems the 3160 is a bit different. Perhaps to mask the final numbers... But I can believe 425.

Yeah that bummed me too but there is an aftermarket for that at least. The Tremec might be a noisy tranny so that could have been the reason for the remote shifter.

Yeah it was interesting how they implemented that. Makes me wonder how the '13-14 GT500 track pack 6060's were built. Doesn't worry me though, trans cooling doesn't seem to be as important as engine cooling.

Agreed, but it is quite fun to watch. They make ignorant sweeping statements like "Torque will be limited to 425ft-lb" and people claim it won't be possible to do FI. Better not have 426ft-lbs or the transmission will EXPLODE! :headbonk:
