I installed some kooks LT headers with high flow cats and now i get a P0420 Ford - Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold Bank 1 code show up every once in a while. From what I've read so far, it's probably the rear o2 sensors causing the trouble code since they are calibrated for the stock catalytic converters. Should I work with the tuner to turn off this code from coming back anymore and causing the check engine light to come on? Or, I read you can install some spacers on the o2 sensors that will get rid of this problem? What's the best thing to do?

Have the tuner turn off those rear sensors. It's a quick fix, tuners do it all the time and it's usually an option when you get the initial tune. No worries on it though

Agreed, get it tuned out. More spacing on your O2 sensor is not going to fool the PCM into thinking your header is a fully functioning catalytic converter. Not sure if O2 MIL eliminators are a thing anymore, but the tune is easier anyhow.

Yeah as stated, I got that code yesterday but my revized tune took care of it

I would imagine your getting a tune after installing headers to keep the car running right, so the code will be gone too

Yes. I've had an updated tune since I installed the headers. Car is running good. I'll probably do one more datalog and check to see if the rear o2 sensor triggers are turned off.

They don't necessarily need to be turned off. A proper tune can remove the code. Thats how mine is set up to deal with emissions.

If they are turned off in the tune will that not pass emissions? I have to pass mine in Vegas and am just curious what the best route is since I am going ARH offroad headers/x-pipe w/purethunder mufflers

If they are turned off u will not pass emissions, the 02. Monitor will say not ready and u will not pass.

So I have to get it tuned to not throw the code? Is that possible running those headers?

You can get the j-shaped defoulers from Vibrant if you want the codes to remain. It will let you pass an OBD inspection if you have them in your state. I've installed a set on my 2013 GT, and I passed my inspection. Just letting you know.

By the way, my tune was supposed to pass without defoulers as well, but some cars are just too stubborn and absolutely won't return to ready state like that. That's why I had to add the defoulers.

It is possible as long as u use high flow cats, but its not 100 % guaranteed. A good tuner will get u through though.

Noob question, but are the ARH long tube? and I really don't want to run cats because as lame as some might think it is, I want that lund ghost cam tune haha and can't run cats with that.
