Ordered a 160 t stat and got the wrong one delivered. Would there be any harm running a tune for a 160 t stat with the orignal t stat still in the car, untill the right one comes in?

I dont see any reason to run a160 thermostat with those mods, unless ur in an area where it is super hot all the time.

A 170 t stat is what's recommend.

By who?

The tuner sets the fans on and off, so it's dependat on what the tuner has set. Not made up general recommendations

When the motor is ran cooler it stays off detonation so the tune can be more aggressive.

I just swapped the stat in my ecoboost f150 to take advantage of the xv1 tune from livernois. It's a animal now, made the 93 performance tune, just plain crazy

My gt will have a 160 stat as well

To the op, take it easy on it, don't make any full passes and you will be fine. The fans will just come on more in traffic.

We make a 160 because the factory stat is ~177. Moving to a 170 is better than no change at all, but ultimately is almost zero change. The 160 stat is much more beneficial for consistent power.
I'm concerned about being too cool and causing issues with condesation not leaving the oil properly. Is this going to be an issue with a 160?

Not at all. The engine has a 177 from the factory and still operates around 220. The 160 keeps it around 190, but oil temp will be high enough to remove the condensation.

High enough would be 212 degrees Fahrenheit during the winter. Is that the case based on your tests/data?

thanks. Who makes your 160?
Since we are an OEM supplier, we use our network of fellow OEM suppliers for this. It is made specifically for us to our ordered specifications.

Well, technically that number chances with elevation and barometric pressure ;-)

But yes, we did indeed test it. Remember that the oil temp on the gauge is not the highest oil temp in the engine. So if it says 200, there are likely spots where its 240.

If you're worried invest in a catch can/separator. Or are you more worried about loss of sheer properties.

Quick few questions, my thermostat is installed and all went fine. What temp should the cylinder head reflect from a stat change? My stat still reads dead center and cylinder head still reads 200-207ish at highway cruising temps. Lastly, is there any issues with running our coolant "orange" with normal prestone green coolant? I mixed the two and haven't seen any adverse effects.
