Why does the 170 come with a gasket and the 160 doesn't?

I'm guessing just a difference in the manufacturer. Why does the 170 come with a gasket and the 160 doesn't?
Out of curiosity how much coolant did you end up catching? 1qt-1L ish?Several of us have done it from the top without even draining the system. I used a clear plastic bag (recycling) to catch the coolant while changing the tstat. 10 minute job taking my time, no water left anywhere and no need to lift the car.

Below are the pics. I did not drain the radiator. I used a hose clamp and as you see from the pics, I didn't lose much fluid. You will need to remove the air intake to be able to access the thermostat housing. There are two 8mm bolts that you will have to remove in order to remove the thermostat.

I would just leave it in if you trade in your car.About that that's another question I have, if I remove the tune lets say I trade in my car o sell it w/o the tune do I have to put the oem thermostat back on? In other words if I just leave this one on would it affect the car in any way (w/the 160 and no tune)?

Mechanical. This is how I plan to do it as well. I have no desire to remove the PP splitter under tray if it is not needed. Thankfully you can do the oil change without removing it as well.
Question, is the coolant pump mechanical or electric on these motors? I never thought to look. I assume mechanical as I did not see anyone mention the bleeding procedure sequence to activate the pump with the engine off.
Correct.I'm guessing just a difference in the manufacturer.
