Why is the LT1's transmission 60-80 pounds heavier? Wouldn't they be basically the same transmission? Unless the Camaro uses the 7 speed... although I doubt it is that much heavier.

The base TR6060 was 150lbs in 2009 (In 5656 trim, same as the 6060), it has gotten heavier. The SS's TR6060 M10 was close to 160lbs, the Caddy's LSA's TR6060 was about 180lbs while the ZL1's was slightly heavier due to the tail shaft. The ZR1's 6060 is still a mystery...Why is the LT1's transmission 60-80 pounds heavier? Wouldn't they be basically the same transmission? The Dash:Axle ratio can change while maintaining the same wheelbase. The entire cabin would need to shift towards the rear wheels.i could of sworn i read over on C5 that the wheel base was made bigger and the Dash to Axle" ratio longer
I think they are in for a big helping of disappointment on weight. Like you I'm interested to see what it looks like although the mules running around pretty much give it away. Curious about the LT1 power level as well.I think the GM boys are going to be let down when the car doesn't weigh 3400 like they are hoping...
Still interested to see how it looks though.
Oh there will be a loss for sure. The car is "shrinking" in exterior dimensions. Its not going to be as light as they are wishing though. We know exactly what happened as we went down that road last year.I still say that there's going to be a weight loss. There HAS to be a weight loss. Overall better interior, better visibility and nifty features i.e. 7MT, Mag ride and other stuff. I'm pretty sure everybody that isn't wearing rose colored glasses realizes that the camaro outsold the s197 for the past 5 years or so.
Only time will tell if history repeats itself.
This is what happens when the car you love has a 7-8 year production halt. It's not like that car outsold the Mustang by 200k units.I'm pretty sure everybody that isn't wearing rose colored glasses realizes that the camaro outsold the s197 for the past 5 years or so.
