Now 5000 miles on my car in almost-constant, sunny 70-degree San Diego...with Fed-Ex truck brake noises. Clearly a manufacturing defect.
Hey klumpikat,

I know you've addressed this with your dealer already, but PM me some info; your VIN, name, phone number, mileage, and dealer info. I'll see how I can assist on my end.

Hey Jeff can you provide us with the TSB that was supposed to be announced today?

I absolutely understand, Mike. I see your CSM reached out yesterday and left a message. Were you able to get back in contact with her?

Jeff :ford:
Jeff,

Ann did call me but she keeps missing me. I only have my phone for a few hours during the workday and when I call back, I think she is on lunch so I keep missing her. I will keep trying. Thanks.

Mike

I took my car in and they changed the brake pads but it's still doing it. I took it back and Ford told my dealer that it's normal because of the high performance brakes. I got mad and told them I didn't pay $40,000 for a car to sound like a piece of shit when I brake. Why don't the Camaro's make this noise. Sounds like a bunch of bull shit to me.
Serious questions . . . Have you make any attempt to 'bed in' your brakes, at any time? Do you ever make any hard stops? Or are you afraid if you use your car's brakes any harder than "gently" that they will only squeal even louder?

Did you speak to Joe Green?
Just got off the phone with him. He said no update today from Ford Corp and to please call him back tomorrow. We might end up waiting till Summer. :headbonk:

Welcome to the "Squeling sound when braking" thread. We appreciate you skipping to the last page. :headbonk:
All kidding aside, yes, I've tried this on many occasions. There is a very long on ramp that I can get up to 90 MPH. I've aggressively applied my brakes going 90, 80, 70, 60. Still the same problem. Maybe I should go 90 turn to the left and aggressively apply the brakes since they squeal while turning left.
A few others made this recommendation but still the same ole squeal.

Aggressive, track-capable pads do tend to be noisy particularly during cold low-energy stops, and this may be behind Ford's position in the Owner Manual and to the dealer here if the PP brakes are in fact that good. But that doesn't really explain the influence of turning one way vs the other. I'm running actual track pads on the street, and cold easy stops after driving on wet roads is about the only time I hear anything, and that's during straight-ahead braking.

I did jump around through the thread but kept seeing the same things being said, and I suspected that since you're near L.A. that you might not have much opportunity to either bed or use your brakes hard on any consistent basis. Not having an S550 yet, I don't really have a dog in this fight, but I do have some experience with brake noise and with what seems to keep it at bay.

FWIW, the 5th gen Camaros have also had trouble with squeaky brakes, to the point where at some point the factory was adding some mass to the calipers to change the frequency responses. AKA "roller skates" in many brake discussions over on Camaro5.com.

Yeah the manual does talk about occasional brake noise but for me it's more frequent. I would totally understand if all the new GT's were making the noise but that isn't the case.

And no car should make this noise. My 350z never made brake noise at all, much less sounding like a damn freight train coming to a stop.
