I did call him. He's just waiting on the engineer to call him back. He said that the engineer he's been in contact with is the person responsible for providing/redesigning the fix.

breaks squealing

it took the Dealership 5 times to get it right. they kept changing the pads out we went through 4 sets of pads in a month time. and finally the service manage said put new rotor all around and new pads and that took care of the problem i tried to tell them from the begining. it comes down to the mechanic doesn't take the time to look into it he not making money when it comes to this .

Yeah. My dealer offered new rotors but I thought I would wait for the redesign. From what V8Venom is hearing, I might just jump on that offer.

I have to admit, I had no idea it might be THAT loud. I don't think any of my track pads have been as loud as Qwk's video more than a couple of times.

Rotor design - in particular the vanes - does have a lot to do with noise. One of the repair industry periodicals has mentioned this at least a couple of times with respect to [cheap] aftermarket rotors as a reason for independent shops to be a little careful what they buy (else count on come-backs by dissatisfied customers - sound familiar?). You'd have thought that Ford would have done a better job of picking this up in durability testing.

Yeah, if it were a slight whine, I'd chalk it up to performance parts. This is a whole different issue. All of the people in this thread know that noise all too well.

Well hopefully he can provide us with some intel soon.

Norm,

It is truly the most awful brake noise I have ever heard. Everyone that says it sounds like a dump truck is not exaggerating. I make a conscious effort to brake hard at certain times when I think it might happen and just today it happened when I was turning right as well, when it used to only happen turning left or going straight. I avoid drive-thru's at all costs to save myself the embarrassment.

It is definitely something that gets worse over extended light braking, but for my everyday driving I can't bring myself to approach every stop at 40+ and then stand on the brakes with both feet just to keep from squealing.

Mine is so loud it has woke up the neighbors a couple of times when I pulled into my driveway. Very embarrassing. :frusty::frusty::frusty::paddle:

I actually don't have issues when driving at normal speeds. It is that low speed, like going through a drive thru or for some reason right when I pull up to my gate to get into my parking garage. That's usually when I press harder on the brakes to shorten the sound or try to eliminate it. It usually works to shorten the length of the sound but normally does not get rid of it.

Ford should be embarrassed

I think what they should really be embarrassed about is the length of time it is taking them to come up with a solution for this issue. Now that's truly the embarrassing part. I understand they have to test and what not but it seems this has been a known issue for quite some time now. I love Ford and I love Mustangs but IMO this is unacceptable. Just my 2 pennies.

Here it is:
Holy shit, that is unsat. If my car comes in next month and starts doing that, and they have no fix, it's getting lemoned. I'd be embarrassed about that too.

Just wanted to show that mine does not discriminate when it does it. Does it when I am going straight and turning left.

Mine has yet to do it while moving straight (knocks wood). Mostly does it while turning right, occasionally left - which could be why drive-thrus are not really a problem for me (the few times I go).

I have to admit, after the second visit to the dealership, it has behaved a little better. Still makes the shriek, of course, but on fewer occurences than at my first visit. The first time, they only replaced the pads. The second time, they just turned the rotors and wiped some crap off, which really irritated me, as I had just explained the whole pending TSB thing at length with my service manager and he even called Joe Green. (I was hoping for at least a complete rotor and pad replacement to quell the problem completely, even if only for a little while.) But it has not noticeably gotten worse, thankfully, and I just hit the 5k mile mark.

Still, it sucks to have to deal with it when trying to park with minimal embarrassment. :(. I just roll out of the driveway in the mornings so as not to wake the neighbors with it...the rumble of the V8 is probably "bad" enough. :D
