When your gas gauge moves faster than your tachometer, you know you bought a thirsty one.

Don't know & don't care... drive it, fill it up, drive it, repeat, repeat, repeat.
Concerning yourself with a car that has a Gas Guzzler tax seems like a waste of time.
That's my primary thought 100% :like:

Then the engineer in me comes out, and I still secretly monitor it (but don't share the info with the wife ... lol).

I've averaged 13.13 mpg from new, and that's a UK figure, so ...

My range from a full tank is typically around 180 to 190, however after it coming out of hibernation earlier in the year, I had obviously been enjoying it a little more than 'normal' (photo on the forecourt after refuelling) :

My warning light typically comes on at about 1/3rd tank.

Side note : I've been in a GT500 CFTP when it been driven hard, and that emptied a full tank in about 22 / 23 ish minutes ... lol

With gasoline being so expensive right now, have you changed your driving habits to increase your fuel economy? Right now I'm using 11.4l/100kms which translates to 20.632 mpg. I find I'm using 5th and 6th gear more often than not. And this is driving mostly on 80 km/h (50 mph) and 60 km/h (37.28 mph) on a 16km (10 mile) each way daily commute. I've been as high as 13.6l/100km (17.3 mpg) and as low as 9.4l/100km (25 mpg). I only use Shell 93 octane with the occasional tank of Petro-Canada 94 octane. My car is a 2021 Mustang GT with the Performance Pack, non-active exhaust, no magnaride and the 6-speed with 3.73 rear.
21 gt 6spd, 355 rear. 25mpg highway at 68mph or under.

Weird as it may sound but, I have always watched my mileage no matter what I drive.
2017 PP Hellion TT typically returns 22-23mpg on 93 tune/750 rwhp and 14-15mpg on e85/912 rwhp

my new 2026 f-350 powerstroke is averaging 17-18mpg
All calculations are actual fuel fill to miles driven. Ford’s computer calculations are a bit optimistic usually plus 1 to1.5 mpg higher

and yes this is all highway mileage at 70-75mph in the Texas heat.

I know most of the posts are for GT’s, but I have a 2018 Ecoboost PP. I have averaged 25.8 over 102,000 miles. That’s hand calculated. As Gman7176 pointed out, Ford’s calculations are optimistic.

I get around 8.7L/100km for short trips on the highway at 130km/h. Generally tho, I tend to settle around 9.5L/100km when doing long drives (5000km).

It's always been like that for me 🤷‍♂️

Just curious, since you use primarily as a daily driver, why not use 87 or 89 Octane? Your OBC and knock sensors will automatically adjust timing to eliminate knock. I recently completed a 2800 mile trip in my GT with mixed highway/city and experimented with different octanes (87/89/93) on near empty tanks. No measurable difference in MPG (averaged 26) or drivability. Since I wasn't tracking the car or doing much 'spirited' driving the loss of a few available HP was not noticeable. There is a popular misconception that high octane is 'better' gas. Only better at reducing knock under load; so the computer will compensate with slightly less peak performance available if using lower Octane. That is why your owners manual specifies 87 as minimum octane. Key is to purchase certified 'Top Tier' gas which has the additive package to keep injectors clean and reduce carbon buildup.

Greetings Mustang fans,

A few months ago I bought a 2017 GT premium auto with 128k on it, and I'm getting 8.2L/100km combined. The car has 135k on it now.

I am wondering if there's something wrong with the car. A local racing shop says without an error message, there's technically nothing wrong with the car.

A search reveals that a faulty O2 sensor might cause this.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Ken
