took the car to one of those touch less car washes after the wash tunnels scratched my front bumper all up and while I was getting the pressured water sprayed at the bottom of the side windows it splashed water though to the inside.. Doesn't seem to leak from water coming from above but still freaked me out.

Do I have a weird mustang or has anyone else had this happen?

I'd have it looked at. I've had my convertible through touchless washes multiple times, and so far, amazingly, incredibly...no leaks. Only convertible I've ever had that didn't leak! So the coupes really shouldn't leak.

I use a touch less three, sometimes four times a week and have not seen any leaks. Would definitely get it checked.

Sounds like you didn't have the windows all the way up. User error.

I checked the windows were up after it sprayed in the first time and on the way back it sprayed in again. I've got a lot of experience with window switches as i have them in all my cars. like my pappy used to say... "pull the switch up, the window goes up"

I don't claim to know it all, but knowing how to work my windows... yeah i got that down.

FYI touchless car washes are known to recycle their water, meaning you're sandblasting your car with the grit that came off the SUV before you. Maybe it only matters on black cars...

Yeah, they don't FILTER it or anything. Cause they are in business to ruin the paint on all of their customer's cars so they don't ever come back again. I bet they just dump a bag of sand in the drain on mornings where they don't get a couple of filthy SUVs first thing in the morning.

It's a tricky business model, trying to piss off literally *all* of your customers, but strangely, many car washes manage to not only pull it off - some even manage to operate profitably!

There are different levels of filters. While they may filter out big chunks of debris, they may not be as fine filters to get grit. Its not just sand, as those are pretty big pieces relatively. Its like all the stuff at the bottom of your wash bucket under the grit guard- sludgy fine debris. This is why you use grit guards you you dont rub that into your paint. It can be like 3000 grit sandpaper still and cause marks.

Now blast this at your car with pressure. It is surely not the ideal way to wash a bran new $30-40k car.

Remember, it costs money for expensive filters as well as time/cost to change or clean them. These car washes couldn't care less about your paint if they don't think you'll notice the fine scratches building up.
