Hi everyone,

2018 gt 10r80 FBO and last summer had a revision to my tune done by Wengerd tuning when I installed my PMAS fenderwell intake.

Wengerd has the redline moved from 7,300 stock to 7,600.

Yesterday I did a pull and noticed what I thought was an audible rev limiter bounce, and felt a loss in momentum.

I checked my dash cam footage and confirmed the rev limiter hit.

this hasn’t happened before. Any idea what’s up? I’ve emailed Wengerd last night and haven’t heard back, it’s still early.

Just curious what the community thinks while I wait.

Not a problem at all, you’re good. That limiter is there to help protect the engine. My limiter was set at 7900 NA andI’ve launched the car off the limiter many times.

Might've slipped a tire at the top of the rpm range and tagged it for a split second. What gear/speed/tire situation are we talking about?

Thanks for the reply! You’re braver than me to launch off the limiter.

I was in 3rd gear, placed there via paddles with the trans in sport, I floored it and popped the trans into drive to let it band gears. At the top of 4th or 5th I believe it hit the limiter. I noticed immediately because I felt the cars power hang up.

wheels are Aodhan AFF1 20x9 front and 20x10.5 rear with continental extreme sport contact 2. Rears are 295/35

I have PAC springs on mine and my soft limiter is set at 8K my hard limiter is 8,300. I have hit 8300 before. You'll be good at 7600 on stock springs. I wouldn't make a habit of it, though. Actually I believe the hard limit, stock from the factory, is set at 7500. You shouldn't have hurt anything at 7600.

did something happen? sounds like you just hit the limiter. Thats exactly what is supposed to happen if you dont shift.

Wengerd is going to need data to tell you what happened. If your weren't logging, all he can do is speculate like we're doing. I would try to recreate the situation and see if it happens again. Log it this time.

Sounds like it is working as intended

What kind of mods are required to support a 7900 redline?

Its just that it has never happened before, in two years.

That's the plan. I will do a pull next week while data logging.

Its never happened before, probably 15 passes on the 1/4 mile and 15 or so highway pulls.

This was when I was FBO N/A. I won’t do it moving forward, even though I have since added OPGs and valve springs. I was just risking it TBH. Still on factory OPGs at that time too and praying that it held together. I wouldn’t recommend trying it without axles, built tranny, good clutch and a clutch slipper in a manual car. Just listening to it made me cringe inside, but I sent it anyway (multiple times). Increased rev limiter and an N2MB Wot Box are needed for this BTW.

It still does that; it just shifts to the next gear at wot instead of banging the limiter.
oh interesting, I will ask him about it. Thanks man.

I little worried there might be a physical issue with my transmission now though.

it has a hard 3-4 up shift, and in 2 years has never hit the limiter while WOT
