I was thinking 8’s in the 1/4 once dialed in. But for now just car shows and fun runs on the road. The safety requirements to run 8’s isn’t cheap at all. While I realize it’s for my benefit a local shop quoted $13k for just the 8.50 certified cage. That’s not the seat, chute, engine diaper etc….

So I think I’ll take it to the local 8th and work on dialing in the 60’ times. Then let one rip and get kicked off.

funny that was my plan. You can run 9.0 with no real safety equipment.
Once I hit 8.99 on the glory run then I’ll think about investing.

I’ve tried to do everything right with quality parts for the most part. I really hate doing things twice but understand that’s part of it. I’ve also been saving and buying parts for a few years now until I was ready to install everything. Took a lot longer than I thought.

I remember seeing hot rod builds growing up showing a 20yr history of the car or truck being built and thinking damn that took a long as time. At 45yrs old I completely understand now.

Very first start up on the RPG long block, Calimer Stage 4 MT-82, Fore Innovations triple pump return fuel system with ID1300’s, and On3 top mount twin turbo 67/66’s. Topping it off with Wengerd tuning on 93 and eventually E85.

Check Amp Distributing and grab the 3/4 billet aluminum shift forks for when you rebuild.

When I built mine, I was fortunate to find 1/2 & 3/4 billet forks there. I check back periodically, but I haven’t seen the 1/2 forks being offered for a while.

There are of course lots of other things you can do to strengthen and enhance the durability of your D4 tranny.

I too, was going to give Calimer a shot, but like you, I found so much negativity and decided to build mine myself.

So far so good. I have changed the trans fluid at the 500mi mark and haven't had any issues yet. Once I get E85 in it and start turning the boost wayyyy up, then that will be the test.

We had a whole long convo about whatever she breaks she replaces!! She wanted to show me she could drive a stick even though it’s been 25yrs and the Mustang would be no issue.

Back in 2016 when I bought the car new, I was working two jobs, the 2nd job I was a bouncer. I hadn’t had the car 2 weeks and someone tried to break into it. I don’t know if it was someone I threw out or just a thief. But next week I’m finally dropping it off to be repaired and some other small touch ups. They will install my carbon fiber doors as well. Very excited for all of this.

Just a little update. The body shop started fixing the rear fender lips and the top of the car where the dents from the attempted break were. Unfortunately the shop manager wasn’t quite happy with the roof repair so he sent it back in to get redone so I’m still waiting on it. I told him no rush, I appreciate his honesty and work ethic.

The body shop did get the carbon doors on and adjusted. They have the mirror caps to put on for me as well. Carbon door handle covers arrived yesterday and the Anderson Composite OEM style Carbon side skirts will be in about a week from now. Next up I think will be the rear bumper, trying to decide on what I want. “EX” wife backed into it years ago and you can see all the little marks on it. So I’m fairly positive that will be the next piece of the project to get worked on.
