I've thought about this a lot and it enitrely depends on budget and goals. I had been starting to ascribe to the ideology of slow car fast until...

At one of my recent track days, I was in the paddock right after a session and an older dude in a race suit walks up to me and tells me "you were flying man!". He explains how he was tracking his daily driven Audi S4 and while giving me a point by on a long straight, he was flooring it and I was still passing him like it was nothing. He was telling me to enjoy a car with so much power. I jokingly respond by saying, I'll try to enjoy it for now but I was thinking of eventually moving to a miata or GR86 for lightweight, low power and low cost track car. He immediately responds with "no, no, noooooo, you don't want to do that". Turns out he used to race corvettes W2W and he tried to move down to a lower power car, and that it was super boring. He tells me to try it before I buy it when it comes to tracking a slower car.

I sometimes think: C8 Z51/Z06/GS, or Supra, or M2, but those are all considerably more expensive to buy, track and maintain.

I also think about GR86, and do HPDE + stock or street class TT competitions. I'm too big/tall for a miata, and I don't want to mess around with roll bar + seat brackets.

All that said, if budget permits, I think I would go manual 981 or 987 Cayman S as a great middle ground between performance, track, fun, weekend car and overall cost.

As some here already know, I did sell my Mach 1 a few months ago in pursuit of another vehicle.
As unpopular as it may sound on this forum, I ordered a '26 Jeep Wrangler Moab 392. The Jeep may not be as fast as a Mach, but the Jeep has the same horsepower and is 1100 LB heavier. The beauty of driving one is I no longer worry about scraping the front splitter, rock sliders prevent door dings in parking lots, poorly maintained roads are no problem, and the low end torque! The Jeep is very comfortable. The only downside is it guzzles down 93 octane like frat boy with a keg of beer. I don't mind because it is fast (0 - 60 in 4.5sec) and loud (active exhaust). I have always been a Jeep guy as this is my 4th and still have my '88 Wrangler.

Nice rig. A buddy has an Earl Gray 392, those things sound so amazing.

A curse on Jeep for not offering the 35" tire setup on the '23 2-door Rubi, as I would have ordered it on mine without question.

I went from my 2019 PP2 to my Whipple RCSB F150 (4WD).... Best decision I've ever made. My wife wanted something that handles the mountain roads well here in Western North Carolina, so we got her a Grabber Yellow Mach 1 (A10 w/ HP) and she's in love. So, keep the Mach and buy what you want next....no need to get rid of it. LOL

Thanks! I hear you about the 2 door Wranglers. I wish they offered the 392 in a 2 door. It appears they offer the 35" tires on 2 door Rubis in 2026, but that forces you into the 4 cylinder 2.L turbo motor instead of the V6.

They started the 35" tires in '24 on the 2-doors. Bastards. Mine has the 2.0T, love that engine. But a 392 in it would be amazing. It would probably be a wheelstander....

yes, this time eleventy…just because we swap/sell/trade our S550s does not necessarily mean we jump back into another hi-performance two door coupe!

for me and mine, it would be something like this with a little less wheel and a little more tire 😂

I'm thinking about switching to a Whipple RCSB F150. I have a Mach-E GT as my daily and a '16 2.7 F150 that I'm working on selling because I never drive it. I also barely drive the Mach 1. I still need a truck from time to time and the Whipple RCSB seems like a great option to still have fun with. The hardest part is I do enjoy the Mach 1 and the manual. Only 6,500 miles in almost 4 years seems silly though.

I honestly don’t know if I ever would. Things I value are number one manual transmission, which pretty much eliminates 90% of potential cars. Loud rumbling V-8, which knocks another bunch off the pedestal. And now that I am pushing 700 wheel horsepower, and having a hard time getting that to the ground, higher power cars don’t have the same appeal. Drove a Lamborghini Huracan on a track this summer and the acceleration was similar to my car. The all-wheel-drive and low profile made it handle better, but I can’t say that it was more fun than the adrenaline rush you get from walking that tight rope of kicking the ass end out. Feeling like a supercharged Mach 1 is one of the last old school muscle cars with modern performance you can buy.

Definitely, truck, and likely an F-150 XLT. I can’t justify having the Mach 1 just sitting in the garage anymore. Love the Mach, but it is what it is. I need a hauler at this point.

I bought my Mach 1 this month so...

I looked at Caymans but I felt that too many Porsche people ruin the experience. I prefer Caymans to the 911s until you get really high dollars but I promise you that every Porsche event you go to you will hear people bash your car. Too many people in that community try to buy status and want to look down on anyone that does not own X. Not my crowd.

I'd love an ND2 or ND3 Mazda Miata but it won't work for my life and already have another impractical car.

I drove the BRZ and GR86 but the interior feels like a 90s car to me and I thought the transmission and clutch bite point sucked. Saw a few reviews mention this odd bite point of the clutch but underestimated how much it sucked. Ultimately, the car didn't really excite me.

Considered a Jag F-type coupe with the supercharged v8. Sounds killer and still looks amazing to me. Unfortunately, you can't get the V8 with a manual. If you could, I may have bought one.

Prior gen M2 Competition. I don't like the current gen as much and it seems even the smallest BMW coupe has gotten big now. Prior gen was sweat though. With both the Mustang and the M2, I prefer the prior gen to the current gen. I had a 1 series I modified and tracked a bit and it got expensive fast. At the end, I felt the M2 Comp and the Mach 1 competed together but the sound from the Mach 1 with the lower cost of maintenance and being easier to work on won the day for me.
