However agree on your last statement.

Well, not 4 nothing but doesn't your policy wholly depend on the "fine print" .
Cause after almost 60 years of being an insurance policies holder, I know a thing or two ,because I've seen (had to deal with) a thing or two.
Insurance rep's and companies like nothing better than folks to not bother reading the whole policy and the fine print.
I have learnt the hard way, if it doesn't state it in the policy, it just isn't so.

GAP insurance covers the amount on a loan that is the difference between the amount owed and the amount covered by another insurance policy.

This is the textbook answer. If you take a car loan for 100k, and total it when it’s worth only 50k, GAP would cover the difference, that is its Whole purpose.

Now you can have regular Comprehensive insurance cover market value (MSRP, book value) or a predetermined value, which I believe is what you are confusing with GAP insurance.

When looking for my first Mach 1 I had a dealer drop his 10k ADM to 2.5k rather easily and we weren't finished with the discussion. Another dealer came back at MSRP so I went that way. Everything is negotiable. I understand that some folks would rather not deal with a dealer who does ADM at all.
