Now that the Driven 5W-50 is done, what do you run in your Coyote-Whipple combo?

I all ways run Mobil 1 in my cars and have not had any problems. Was using Mobil 1 Full Synthetic 5w-50

Currently using Mobil 1 Supercar 5w-50 due to the higher Zinc value. This oil was developed for the higher powered supercharged and Turbocharged Engines. I figured it couldn’t hurt the Coyote to switch to that.

Have you considered switching to a SQ oil because of direct injection?

No sir, since the car is Port and Direct Injection; the Coyote is not experiencing some of the problems other pure Direct Injection motor have in terms of pre-ignition/detonation and valve deposits.

I have never seen or heard of needing oil to combat that on the Coyote.

What’s the logic here?
  • LSPI Protection: Low-speed pre-ignition refers to a spontaneous, premature combustion that can occur in turbocharged engines, resulting in engine “knocking” and potentially serious damage. API SQ oils will be formulated to mitigate this risk.
Figured this would apply to supercharged direct injection engines as well

Not that there is anything wrong with M1 Supercar oil

My motor was built by RPG for boost and this is what I was told to use after I finish the break-in period.

Since my Mach 1 is a Coyote and supercharged with a TVS2650 like the Roush cars, this is what I researched.

Roush recommends that their Coyote with TVS2650 (Roushcharged) vehicles use Motorcraft 5w-50 which is API SN standard oil. SN is NOT formulated for Low-Speed Pre-Ignition Protection.

Roush doesn’t seem to care…

API SP is considered superior to API SN; which Mobil Supercar is.

Mobil 1 Supercar 5W-50 is API SP standard oil which is formulated for LSPI protection.

API SP is formulated for LSPI protection as SQ.

API SP oils are also formulated to address LSPI.

Mobil 1 FSx2 euro 5w-50. Runs great. Best I've found out of the few I've tried. Calmed the tick more than the others. But still recommend some ceratec. Lucas is poop and breaks down quick. Castrol didn't seem to hold up as well either. But finding this Mobil 1 to have better resistance to shearing as the others. Least for me and my driving. Sent to Blackstone. Going to send another in few weeks hopefully to see whats what.
