I didn’t think this would ever happen, but I got the bug to move on past the GT350. There was absolutely nothing wrong with the car; nothing.
But I just was hearing a voice for something more old-school and perhaps special. A car that I could actually work on, didn’t require smog or inspections, and one that a cop might appreciate instead of ticketing.
Two cars that really turned my crank are the GT40s and the Shelby cobras.
The GT40 replicas would be my first choice, but I would have to sell my left testicle to make that happen. And considering the high mileage on the latter, the value is suspect…
I have always wanted a cobra, but thought it was too impractical. Considering I have only taken the 350 out on nice days owning a cobra. It wouldn’t be much different.
There is definitely a part of me that is sad about having walked away from the 350 but a new adventure awaits. At least I’m staying in the Ford family. By the way, having three pedals on the new ride is a given.
The 350 went to a good and deserving home, and I know it will be well taken care of.
Wish me luck on the next adventure!

A cobra replica is a bucket list car for me!
Yeah, ever since I was in high school and watched Gumball Rally I was mesmerized by the Cobra.
Didn’t even know that replica GT40s existed until recently. They are just overpriced, in my opinion. This is regardless of the fact that I could never afford one.
Nothing gets my blood stirring like the sound of a built big block. Or in the case of these cars, a bored and stroked 351 pushed to 427!
To me it’s a symphony.

Cobra replica sounds like the perfect choice - you'll definitely get more thumbs up than tickets with one of those beauties!

Cobras are hot, noisy, and dangerous. The perfect combination.

I too agree that the superformance brand is probably the way to go. Now that I have had a voodoo engine, which does sound great at full scream, of 427 even at idle sounds phenomenal. There is something supernatural about a cammed, built Big block that sounds like NASCAR. Put on a Borla eight-stack injection system and you have beauty and brawn. Pardon me as I start drooling onto my own post..

There's a really nice silver/black stripe Backdraft at the local collector car dealer with a Roush 427 that I'd love to have if I had the room, it sounds utterly fantastic.

Interesting. Where is this place? Backdraft is also an excellent manufacturer of the cobras, and you can’t go wrong with a Roush or a Shelby engine.

Favorite movie, just keep the rear view mirror on 😆 “What’s behind me is not important.”

Factory Five and Superformance are actually two different companies; at least used to be.
Both great brands.
Factory Five has teamed up with another company that offers the rest of the parts: suspension and motor. Making it more turn key.
Always wanted to do a kit car, would be fun to build. But if you want to get away from smog stuff and want to be able to work on it, that might not be a way to go since it will be a modern engine.
Good luck with picking the next car, it should be a fun experience.
