I got that letter, too. I haven't made the appointment, yet though.

Good to know that there's no need to take it in unless it acts up, especially since they're allowing up to 15 years.

It appears their customer satisfaction program reduces the effective time of this safety recall. This is from Ford's website:

Can a Ford recall expire?
Safety, Compliance, and Emissions Recalls do not expire. Affected vehicles remain eligible until the repair is completed.

So in effect Ford shortened how long something is eligible to be fixed to 15 years from the life of the vehicle and call it a "Customer Satisfaction Program". I would have to ask the NHTSA if that is even legal. Safety recalls don't have a time limit. This is a "Safety recall". Ford isn't stepping up anything:

NHTSA safety recalls
do not have a set expiration date or time limit for repairs. Manufacturers are required to remedy the safety-related defect for the lifetime of the vehicle, regardless of its age or ownership status. While parts may eventually become unavailable for very old vehicles, the recall itself remains active.

Do you guys still think Ford is doing us a favor or going above and beyond?

One thing I am pleased about is saying we don't need to bring our cars in if the camera is working. I wonder if they will close the recall on my car if the camera works. Anyone know.

Interesting, I just got the recall notice for at least the 3rd time in as many years, in spite of having this checked at an oil change. The tech told me I didn't need it replaced, and I could buy that he didn't check a box or whatever to get me taken off the list. Yet here I am getting the recall notice last week instead of this letter.

I just got my car last Saturday from a dealer in eastern MD, a 2020 Bullitt with 25K miles. When I ran the VIN at the NTSB website, and saw the open recall not performed, I mentioned it to the sales dude and they ran the car through the test/process yesterday. They did not replace any hardware, and all camera function was proper. They printed out some paperwork which was exactly like that above and told me I was covered for 15 years but from the original date of warranty enactment, OCT of 2020 in my car's case. So even if you buy it used, you can take it in if you run the VIN and see the recall was not performed (like I did) and get it in the system to be covered. Safety stuff has different guidelines and such they have to follow from the NTSB.

So this sounds like a warranty extension on the named component after the recall has been completed. This is common in BMW world. It does not replace the recall, it is for after.

I don't know if it's been posted yet. There is a recall and parts will be available next quarter. It has something to do with the seat belts located near the frame. It's more of a northern thing because from what I have read it is due to salty roads and rust. I guess It effects the structure Intirigty of the seat belts safty

Pretty cool to honor it for 15 years.

Frustrated with my Ford dealer because they denied the fix even though I showed them several photos proving backup camera failures.

I reported this denial of service to NHTSA.
