Dark Horse SC, who's adding one, who's replacing with one, what will it do to GT500 values?

I know it's a dead horse by now, but without a manual as an option, it will never be a consideration for me 🤷‍♂️
You can enjoy both ya know ;) You can have fun in one and be fast in the other. HAHAHA

LOL. It’s true though.

You can’t beat the DCT for performance.

The sad part is, whenever Ford releases both a manual and s faster auto, the reviewers all deflect the manual to review and put thst against auto competition. They love to sandbag the Mustang. So ford took the option away.

I have never liked the S650 or Dark Horse until now. I absolutely love the DH SC. When I see the front fascia on it I see a much angrier look. To me it makes the GT500 look soft, GT350 too. The hardware it comes with is upgrades galore for a 500 owner looking to make some performance improvements as well.

I too, struggle with the laptop dash on the S650. And the hips on it seem a bit odd in comparison to ours. I think I can get beyond those two caveats in search of greater performance potential but am stuck on price. I'm unwilling to accept 140-150k if that proves to be the range for the top dog. Our 500's will have become a heck of a performance value in comparison.

I'm eager to see power and pricing but think I'll continue to enjoy what I have. I also can't wait to see just what parts are an ea$y swap.
To each his own but I just don't see it. Honda lights don't make it look aggressive to me...lost the distinctive headlights. One thing I really can't get past is what looks to be the vinyl "SC." They couldn't spring for an actual badge? GT500 values will go up. This won't command the price they will want.

DH in the showroom today while doing the oil change on my Bronco. Of course not for sale. Don’t see much different on the engine unless somebody else can point something out. I’m a novice in that aspect.

I’m sure its a great performing car. But it’s certainly not a great looking car.

The basic design has no continuity or flow, interior and exterior are plasticy (holy rear diffuser Batman), body lines (or lack thereof) make it look heavy. In fact, i think the styling on this car actually makes the standard S650 GT look better. So many weird design cues that make you go “what were they thinking”.

So no, keeping my GT500 for sure.

Dang. Nice. Total dream car on the left.

‘have to agree. The s650 GT is, so far, the only model that looks designed by a pro. The dark horse and sc just look like fisher price versions. The diffuser is inexplicably bad. I don’t know who thought the exhaust tips were a good idea and trying to force the exhaust tip aesthetic onto the grille just doesn’t work. Add to that the old honey come style grill, mismatched by flush mounting the bottom at 90 degrees, but recessing a going concave on the upper center portion just looks wildly inconsistent. The toilet bowl hood venting doesn’t help either.

would love to see the designs Ford rejected. Probably a couple good ones in the proverbial wastebasket. But this one looks most like the… bronco… and apparently Ford thinks Mustang buyers want to be reminded of Fords off road successes when they look at the sc. Yay.

I don't follow Honda but have followed the Mustang since I first saw a Mach1 back in 1969, and that includes the headlights. I like those on the DH SC far better than on my '20 GT500. Leaner and much more aggressive.

The vinyl SC, given previous badging throughout the years at that location, is indeed weak, I agree. I normally remove badging so in that case it looks like a win as there shouldn't be any holes in the fender then.

If the SC ends up losing substantial value quickly that's a win for those waiting for a second hand steal.

I went the other direction within 2 days of the SC announcement and bought a `21 GT500 CFTP. I personally don't feel the SC will or has affected the GT500 pricing, but Ford has yet to announce its pricing yet so that could change.

The main reasons for me was S650 styling and the interior. Someone will always have more HP. I want something that I love the looks of just sitting in my garage.

I'll also keep the Mach 1 HP for track days and weekend drives.

I get what you’re saying about the hips. I think it’s a combo of them smoothing out some of the lines that were previously on S550 and v-shaped taillights a tail panel. When you look at 3/4 views of the S650, you can the hips are actually pretty similar to S550. They’re just not as accentuated looking directly at the rear. I think it’s an optical illusion of some kind.

As for the DH SC, I really like it so far. I don’t have an S550 Shelby to replace, so maybe I consider the DH SC depending on price. If the base car is going to be $110k+, I’m out. If Ford can keep the base car under $100K, I’d consider it. Non-CFTP GT500’s around here can still fetch close to $90K if they’re low mileage cars. New car with a full warranty sounds attractive at a similar price. And I’m one that actually likes the screens for the most part. Integration could be better but overall I think they’re pretty good

Grabber Yellow is such a great look on the S550’s. Particularly with all the black accents. Good choice there

Regarding the design, It makes me wonder if there was a shake-up in the design/development department and they brought in some new folks to create the new generation of Mustang? I mean, even taking the new look out of convo for a moment; the name "Dark Horse" and "Dark Horse SC" just seems off. How do they go from successfully developing and naming the Mustang GT PP 1 and 2, Bullitt, Mach1, or even Boss from a few years back, and then land with the name "Dark Horse." Just call it a Boss Mustang and offer base, handling package, and super charged options and maybe still capture a few style points from the 550... If only Ford reached out to me for my opinion on the new gen Mustang... I would work for cheap... couple sets of tires, maybe a Ford ESP... perhaps a meet and greet with Jay Leno and his car collection.... 🤣

Definitely keeping my 21 500. The TEMU DHSC, may have great seats and an identical power train, but the styling, especially the rear end, is totally yuck! I haven't cared for the S650 since it was released. The big plastic lower valence, sticks out way to far. It reminds me of the 2010-2012 S197 rear ends. The front is ok. Looks aggressive, but some weird lines and shapes. The name is pathetic. Dark Horse has zero history.
Ford has lost it's way. Designers should be all fired. Such weird stuff nowadays. Maverick with it's off center rear license plate? WTF. Who does that? Dark Horse SC with a Raptor R lid? Really? If you want to charge over $100k for a car, make is special and with lineage.
It used to be there was a $30k price difference between a Mustang and a Vette. They have priced themselves out of the pony car range and into a complete other range where quality and performance are options from many other brands!
