I also never subscribed to the “no torque down low” theory, it’s always just a gearshift away…or as @Strokerswild used to say ”The GT350 is somewhat of a turd on the street, driving it like a rational human being...Once you lose the rationality, the fun begins.”With reliability issues with the GT350 5.2 motor, I would think the centrifugal supercharger would complement the high raving nature of GT350 without the add stress of more torque in the lower RPMS.
I don’t know, I kinda like the fighter jet noises the straight cut centri’s make…To hell with traction. I just want that PD whine. I'll lose races all day but damn if the car doesn't sound glorious while doing it.
Well, don’t buy a TVS2650 because it doesn’t really make any noise. I hate that! Now, I had a F1A-94 Procharged GTO and you thought a street sweeper was coming down the parking lot.To hell with traction. I just want that PD whine. F1A-94 is a bad unit.Well, don’t buy a TVS2650 because it doesn’t really make any noise. I hate that! Now, I had a F1A-94 Procharged GTO and you thought a street sweeper was coming down the parking lot.
In honor of your comment…F1A-94 is a bad unit.
Racing a stick vs an automatic or supercharged car on non-drag radials is a lose lose either way
Pffft…the 2650 doesn’t make any noise? Someone forgot to tell Jason Leiva and his 1544 WHP ZL1 on a 2650 lol…Well, don’t buy a TVS2650 because it doesn’t really make any noise. I hate that! Now, I had a F1A-94 Procharged GTO and you thought a street sweeper was coming down the parking lot.
It might be how much he pullied down for.Pffft…the 2650 doesn’t make any noise? Someone forgot to tell Jason Leiva and his 1544 WHP ZL1 on a 2650 lol…
Yeah on “only” 800 WHP you wouldn’t be working a 2650 very hard so agree that pulleying it down would definitely increase the noise by a good bit. I’m just under 1100 WHP and my exhaust is a lot louder than my 3.0 Whipple lolIt might be how much he pullied down for.
I talk about my personal experience. Can’t speak on nobody else. This VMP TVS2650 is not near as noisy as my F1A-94 Procharger, nor is it working as hard.
This is my personal car.
This really isn’t entirely true. A good tuner simply strips back a couple degrees of timing in the low and midrange to tame the torque, then let it fully eat at higher RPMs. I also run the tallest drag radial I can run too as that helps tame torque on the gearing side. And if that’s not enough my Smoothboost can run boost by gear too. But the Whipple has way more power under the curve and can definitely be faster all other things equal.I dont quite understand, you want a procharger setup with low end torque, but a whipple or equivalent is not good because it has too much down low….. theres no setup that allows you to have low end power and not blow tires off. The idea of alot of power with low rpm, which means low wheel speed per gear, is the exact recipe for traction problems. You cant have it both ways without awd or something like a drag strip to help your traction
If you dont want to blow tires off, go for the centri, but under 4k will almost stay the same power wise. The only way to keep traction is to keep low torque at low rpm
