I’ve been reading the threads about X, H, and Hybrid pipes for resonator replacement. For me I decided that an H-pipe will deliver the sound I want. I want to know if installing the H-pipe will increase the noise in the passenger compartment? Or does the change occur at the mufflers? Mine is the Mach 1 with the adaptive exhaust. I’ll give an example. I had a 1991 GT and put Flowmasters on it and the drone in the passenger compartment was horrendous. I want to avoid that if I buy an H-pipe. TIA

I have the mach 1 active exhaust with a X pipe. I do not have drone in the car. I can't speak on H pipe for this system. I had mbrp race exhaust with a H pipe before mach 1 active system. The drone was terrible.

You’re going to hear sound increase inside and outside when putting an aftermarket H on any year Mustang.

On an S550, the “drone” is not as pronounced as the Fox Mustangs because the mufflers on the S550 are at the absolute rear and not before the rear axle under the car like on a Fox.

The H gives more of the classic muscle car/NASCAR rumble and growl at WOT, while an X gives more of a Indy car scream.

I will second the drone with MBRP H-pipe race exhaust. I love the exhaust until I'm in 6th gear on the freeway. I want longtubes but 1) I live in California and 2) my wife likes our neighbors.
Removing the resonator and installing a H or X pipe will increase the sound in the passenger compartment. If sound inside is a issue axle back might be for you.

My stock active exhaust with the H pipe is a little louder inside, but no drone. I had a 94 GT with headers, X pipe and free flow mufflers, so I know what drone irritation is. You always have quiet mode if that's what you need.

I run the Mishimoto H-pipe. No drone for me. As for volume, I liken it to running with the active exhaust valves one step louder. So now, with the resonator replaced with the H-pipe, normal is more like sport.

I have a Roush H-pipe and Axlebacks, and I do hear the engine when accelerating, but by no means any drone when cruising.

I have a friend with the active exhaust and he recently cut out the resonator for an H-Pipe and I swear I don’t think the car got any louder.

There's a big difference between being loud and sounding Good.

Whatever you do, do NOT throw out the stock resonator as you may want to put it back on again.

I have a steeda H pipe no drone but it is louder especially on a cold start. Put the active exhaust into quiet mode And it is just as quiet as the OEM resonator.

Nailed it!

Inside the car will be a little louder, but nothing crazy. Got to remember that the resonator sits directly underneath the front seats. You'll also have a little more rumble (vibration) from under the seat with the H-Pipe since the tone is in the deeper Hertz range.

FYI, we were out of Steeda 555 3619 Mustang 5.0L Coyote 304 Stainless Resonator Delete H-Pipe (15-26) for 2 weeks, but they are back in stock and actively shipping. If you get an order in today, you should have it right before Christmas.

It will be louder on the outside, but barely at normal operation. Certain frequencies will be more pronounced that otherwise would have been dampened by the stock resonator which is noticeable during cold starts.

The biggest difference inside is that your foot feels a little more connected to the throttle. There's a slight increase in cabin vibration, but just the right amount. A resonator delete is one of the best mild mods for driver experience on these cars. Have fun!

I have a Steeda H pipe with the factory active exhaust. I would say it added about 20% to the volume, with no drone. I love the way it sounds. A little louder, with some extra rumble. Prepare to use more fuel, as you are going to want to step on the pedal even more! Enjoy!
