Hello; Looked the location up. Quite a distance away. I live where KY, TN &VA meet on the map. About 50 miles north of Knoxville TN. I usually do not shop in Knoxville due to the taxes and dealer markups. But The shop is close enough.
I made a mistake during a car search. That same dealer has a shop in Frankfort KY and has a manual GT listed Greg Yoeman Ford (SP). It is listed in the low $50's but is not at the Knoxville shop. It is white which is my top color. I thought it was in Knoxville as i did not look past the name. Frankfort is much further away.
I like most of the colors. The gray is fine. There is a Dark Horse in that grey color at the Knoxville shop.

Hello; Thanks for the comments so far. Some very useful information. I need to do some looking to see what pricing range is available. I am some surprised by the link price Sheepdog posted. I wonder if the tide has turned a bit on prices.

I am old and have some reluctance to do some things. I do not fly anymore. I have flown and dealt with it fine. Got a feeling I could not fly anyway. I did not get a "real ID" when i renewed my driver's license. I do not have a passport, never had one.
I have been schooled by dealers that cash is no longer king. I will likely stay with cash.

Not sure what to do about committing to a car sight unseen. I was very tempted to go ahead because the deal sounds better than any since last year. May be a better price can be had in general currently and I do want to see, sit in and drive a car before committing. May wind up being the sticking point.

Used? I'd never buy sight unseen.

New? Sure, I'd take it without a test drive. Effectively, that's what I did on every car that I factory ordered (including one that I picked up at the factory in Germany). You can always back out if there's a mechanical or damage issue. Otherwise, it's a new car. Go for it.

TBH, though, I'm just shy of 67, and while I hope to have a few more years in front of me, I'd get every option I think I may like if I can afford it (which I did when I ordered my 2019). There's enough in place now for my wife and I to live comfortably well past our expected lifetimes, and while it would be nice to leave the rest to our daughter, she and her husband don't need it, and I'm not taking it with me.

I've seen dealers sell those for 38k. I'm looking at autotrader right now and see them for sale in Maryland if you're willing to travel. 10k.

I don't understand the reluctance to finance. Unfreeze your credit for a couple of days, do the deal and refreeze it. You'll save money on the car and can pay it off at the first bill. Just because you have the funds is no reason to make a poor financial decision out of some misplaced fear.
Hell, I financed mine. Got a great price and interest rate. I could have paid cash but instead I put the money in an interest bearing account and had the payment automatically deducted. I earned more money on the account than I was paying on the loan. Be smart, use other people's money.
Oh yeah, I'm 70 so we're not that far apart.

Hello; As things stand now it seems i will need to look at other dealers. Talked to the manager of the shop in Knoxville TN (Gary Yeomans Ford). Offered three options. One was to see what sort of deal could be had on the GT premium they had in stock last Thursday. = Result being the car sold Friday. Next was to try a deal on a white GT listed at their dealership in Frankfort KY. Is listed as a manual. = Result is i was told the car is actually an automatic. Frankfort is some over 100 miles away but as i worked there for a year I know the way. Last option is the gray GT base model I have already described. Sales manager complained that without a committment I might try to dicker over the price after they shipped it. I agreed to keep my offer but wanted the option to reject the car if I found something wrong or that I do not like. = Result is unclear but my take is such will not happen. Last time we talked the manager was to get back to me. That was Saturday afternoon.

I did a search or two. There are some other manual GT's a bit further away. I will contact the two closest tomorrow or by a chat today.

I have not financed anything since the early 1980's. Used my own savings as collateral and so got a decent rate. Bought the black E-150 van in my avatar. Since then I put a car payment into savings until I have enough to buy a car or truck. This was before the zero or near zero interest rate schemes and is become a standard practice. I do not fault anyone who will finance. I needed to finance much of my early life. I guess the bigger issue for me is to finance requires i give out my SS#.
Back before the pandemic I had a deal worked out to buy a base GT in Cincinnati OH. That was a four hour drive one way. Worked it out on the phone. Price was to be just over $30 K. They wanted a certified check which I took with me. Got to doing the paperwork and they insisted on getting my SS#. I balked and left. Found out later this is a state requirement. I relented on that but could not arrange a way to get two cars home in time and it was sold. That was the summer of 2019 and now the prices are much inflated. Very discouraging.

I tried a search or few to get reviews and owner comments on the 2025 GT. Such is the greater focus for me now. As others have reported the digital dash and touch screens are not to my liking. Were i younger such would be a deal breaker as i tend to keep most vehicles ten and more years. I figure this electronic stuff will become out of stock too soon. The stuff which is built well will almost never go bad. The stuff with faults will start to fail sooner and so soon the stock replacement boards and displays will be used up. I have already encountered such.

It’s my understanding the analog dash gauges in many of the SN197 Mustangs are no longer available to purchase or replace…

If that’s true, then it goes to show every kind of part in our cars Will one day be obsolete and/or unavailable.

Nevertheless, @sk47 have you considered a low mileage late model s550 and just buy the better warranty available through Ford?

There are many of those cars available and I see them in mint condition going for a song.

I understand your hesitation and at our age we tend to lament about major purchases losing days we could spend enjoying a wonderful new addition to our family the difference between $45,000 and 50,000 is 6 months to a Year's worth of payments in the big picture does that really concern you that much get it loaded find the color you want and have it delivered to you and call it a day Life's too short to ponder nickels and dimes clearly you are a smart Financial Mastermind having saved enough for retirement it's your turn to enjoy something special for yourself just pull the trigger and get on the road and open that baby up! When you're blowing through speed traps at over 100 mph with the windows open and your foot to the floor you're not going to care whether you financed it a good interest rate or paid cash.We're all cheering for you!

Hello; Yes I have considered such. There are at least two idiosyncrasies of mine which make such a move difficult. Only one might pass a smell test of logic. That being the many scary threads I follow about some member buying a used GT which has been abused or messed up by a previous owner. Many years ago I became a shade tree mechanic to whom 914 owners would bring their cars. I learned how to adjust the solid lifters on my car after watching a Porsche shop do my 914 and charge over $100. This was in the 1970's. I wound up working on cars on the side and saw too many things. I like to think I am clever enough to spot a bad car but in reality know I am not. I like the idea of a factory warranty for three years.

The other reason is an unsupported notion that if i buy new i can treat a vehicle well from the get go and keep it right while also knowing the history. Unfortunately, my current vehicles feed into this possibly incorrect and inflated opinion of my abilities. I bought my 2001 Sentra SE and my 2004 Silverado new. Both still in good running condition. I assume, perhaps falsely, that a used GT will have been run hard a few times. Maybe drag raced.
The GT premium I sat in last Thursday had a feature which puzzled me then. It looked like a manual parking brake. A big handle next to the driver's seat. I pulled it up, but it did not catch and there was not a button on the end to release it. Found out it was called a "drift brake". I have seen drifting on TV and such holds no appeal to me. To find that feature on a used car would be troubling. Did the previous owner actually try to drift the car?

But all this said I do check the low mileage used cars. Was near to buying a used Bullitt a few years ago. Had only a couple thousand miles. I liked it. When i finally got the Carfax report I found it had been in a collision. Apparently before it was titled.

Before anyone else says it, I get that I have too many self-imposed roadblocks in place. Back when I was young and did not have the money I would have signed away my soul to have a Mustang GT fastback. Now I am old with lots of bad choices I have had to live with. Perhaps a little too picky.

Hello; You are among several other who have told me the same thing. I do try to get into such a mode of behavior. So far, my old habits win out. The behavior which got me to a comfortable old age are ingrained. I could spend extra and not be hungry, homeless nor do without.
Went for the gusto a few times and came to regret it a few times. I got closer this past Saturday. Pondered it Friday and decided if they called me on Saturday, I would try for the GT premium I had sat in the previous Thursday. Of course it had sold on Friday.
