Shopping for 2025 GT

Yep it was sold on Saturday to the guy, just like you, who woke up Saturday morning and decided life's too short to worry about the little things. You know I'm your age you're not 20 30 or even 40 years old anymore when you hit your 60s you're watching your buddies fall dead left and right you begin to realize that's life's meant to be lived and if you can't do it in a 6-speed V8 what's the point...

Hello; You are among several other who have told me the same thing. I do try to get into such a mode of behavior. So far, my old habits win out. The behavior which got me to a comfortable old age are ingrained. I could spend extra and not be hungry, homeless nor do without.
Went for the gusto a few times and came to regret it a few times. I got closer this past Saturday. Pondered it Friday and decided if they called me on Saturday, I would try for the GT premium I had sat in the previous Thursday. Of course it had sold on Friday.

You’ve been on here a long time and an asset to the site. Having said that, you have been trolling along for too long and your indecision about making a decision is frustrating to listen to. Just do it and be happy unless there’s some compelling reason not to. Life’s too short. Maybe you can get more insight on the 7G site.

I have wanted a sports car for as long as I can remember. I am retiring in March and was able to finally afford one. I bought my low milage 2019 GT in March of this year and bought a 6yr/40,000 mile warranty through Granger. I don't know how much longer I'll be here, but I decided to treat myself and enjoy it for as long as I can.

LOL. Funny thing is I did that a couple of weeks ago with the wife in the car, figured I’d give her a flavor for how awesome the car is, she was not impressed. Threatened to never ride in it again, I’m okay with that.

"analysis paralysis" is holding you back. You can t know and figure everything out and see the future all the time. So someone runs your SS# if its a must, mines been run all my life with no issues. Make the best choice you can but make a choice. It is only a car.
Maybe just find a local car with a few more options and then you can see it, drive it, touch it and be done .

Hello; I left financing on the table during the discussion. I do not plan to finance tho. One reason being I was part of the AT&T data breach around a year & a half ago. I have frozen my credit at the three agencies and do not want to unfreeze. Plus i have the funds.

This is a fair reason but they will be far less willing to negotiate on a cash deal.

why not buy a used car…? Far better use of money

Cash is a huge red flag now, anything over 10K requires all kinds of forms and reporting.

My friend bought his GT500 back in 2021… had brought 50K cash out of his account to put down…
They literally locked him and another person in a room and waited for the brinks truck or some other company to show up and take the money out of the dealer… never seen anything like that.

Digital currency makes this all so much safer and easier, can’t come fast enough, bring on digital ID, social credit score etc..

Hello; Had another talk with the dealer today. They found another GT in white. Wanted a commitment before getting it again. I ask for a definition of commitment. They want me to do the paperwork, sign a purchase contract and all required forms and pay for the car before they bring the car. I said no.
My initial mistake was not realizing the dealership was showing a white GT which is at the Frankfort location. I was thinking it is at the Knoxville location. My secondary mistake was not looking at the interior pictures of the white GT to know it has an automatic.

I get the dealer is trying make a sale and do not blame them. Too bad they do not have a car I want on the lot.

I believe you mentioned you’re 78 years old. Good for you! Rock on, but in all honesty, have you given any thought to how a manual transmission is going to be for you year or two down the line? Just don’t want to see you unhappy. On another note, selfishly, I don’t think we all can handle you coming back here telling us about it without indulging in a few alcoholic beverages first.

Hello; I did go to thw 7G site and had a look around. Did a search. Came back to this section of the site for a look. Did a search. Could not find threads with information about the 2025 GT. Likely I did the searches poorly.
A thing is over the last year or so I have read thread posts with comments about the 2025 version of the Mustang. I did not choose to follow most of them so lost track of how to find them. I started this thread with the general idea of gathering comments about the likes or dislikes of the latest version since such is all that I can buy new. So far much of the thread is about other aspects of such a potential purchase. I do not mind and find many comments useful.

I would like comments about the car itself. I do agree with past posts about the digital dash and touch screen. I do not care for it.
Last year around this time of year I discovered with help from this forum that the Coyote in the Mustang does not have the cylinder deactivation system as in in the Coyote of the F-150. I had stopped shopping for a Mustang a while because i do not want a cylinder deactivation engine. My timing was poor. Found a couple of 2024 GT's but the dealers were not so accommodating a year and refused to consider my offer.
An example of comments about features is the ability to fit a full sized spare into the trunk. Can that still be done. I have never owned a car without a spare. So far i do not like the touch screen and the electronic parking brake.
I decided to try to make a deal in spite of those dislikes simply because the Mustang is the only game left in town and a reluctant realization i cannot outwait for the car industry to come back to its senses. It would be comforting to know of features which may be disappointing before I buy. At least I could decide to put up with them and not be surprised.

I want to thank all who have taken the time to help me. I realize I am a different sort of cat from many of you.

Don't Plug These Gadgets Into Your Car's USB Port
Hello; OK, now I have a specific question. i have over 1200 CD's. I have most of them ripped onto my computer hard drive. I did burn tunes onto blank CR disks to play in my vehicles. Now the Mustang does not have a CD player.
I have put some tunes onto a USB thumb drive. One thumb drive with tunes in WMA format. The other with MP3 format. I did test both in a 2025 Mustang last Thursday. Both played and did sound good. (SIDE NOTE- I do not have a smart phone so that way of using tunes is out)
I just read the above link. I had planned on putting lots of tunes on a thumb drive and leaving it plugged into the USB port all the time. Even when parked a few days. Now i wonder if this will drain the car's battery or cause other problems?

New question. I have all the CDs on my computer backed up to an external solid-state drive. I suspect trying to plug this solid-state drive into a cars USB port will not be a good idea. Likely too much content. Is this correct?

Hey OP, glad you are getting back out there in search of a new GT.

Here are my thoughts:

YOU are searching for a NEW car. I would absolutely purchase the exact spec you want without a test drive. It is a NEW car after all. There is a full powertrain warranty backing it. The only thing I would recommend is see the color you want on a car in person, find an equal spec car at a local dealer and play with the electronics, ect. If you know you will like the combo, then you should commit and buy it sight unseen.

This is coming from a guy that buys old USED cars sight unseen from Bring a Trailer auctions. I always get a pre purchase inspection and even then the first week getting the car is nerve wrecking as I am usually waiting for the car to show its gremlins but thankfully since I do my due diligence ahead of time, I mostly end up with well taken car of cars that prove to be reliable. Part of my habit is driving same year, same options, looking at exact colors and stuff and in my mind putting it all together to envision what it would look like.
All this to say, OP you have significant low risk of buying a NEW car sight unseen. It is still a new car, just make sure you get the exact spec car you want. Take your time and play around with all the trim levels to find the exact options you want.

USB drive will not drain your battery, car should be able to handle SSD with music on it. Either one needs power from the car to operate.

FLAC is way more efficient and lossless format to store music than .WMA - btw.
That article is some useless AI mambo-jambo, no USB device will magically make the car provide power to the outlet that the car doesn't want to provide.

OBD devices plugged into OBD2 port can drain your battery (it happened to me several time when I left Race Capture plugged into OBD).
