Road race etiquette….what to do to say no thanks.

I’m sure this is common but lately I can almost tell if someone is going to line up for a quick race. I’ve gotten good at identifying these cars as well. Rev matching on track mode attracts them further but I love the sound. Is there a polite way of saying nice car but no thanks?

Just don't engage the race. Let them peel out and that's it. They'll get the message.

When they do line up, I keep my windows closed, wait a few seconds to admire their ride then ease off on the gas to let them move on ahead.

When it happens to me, I'm usually rolling down the freeway so a give a smile or wave then ignore them. If they continue to rev, downshift and surge, I will take the next exit and then reenter the freeway. I want no part of it.

I just don’t engage. If it’s a cool car, I’ll smile and wave and just drive normal. They usually get the hint pretty quick. If it’s some kid in a fart can, I usually don’t acknowledge them at all. If I do, I make sure I roll my window down (so they can see through the tint, and laugh. That usually pisses them off and they speed off like an idiot. A few have gotten caught by cops just up the road which makes it all the more hilarious to me.

I know not everyone is so fortunate, but we have plenty of tracks within an hour or so drive for that kind of stuff. Both road courses and drag strips.

Get yourself some stickers made for the 1/4 windows that say “No street racing 4 me" and when they pull along side you, they will see them and move on.

I typically just ignore them. A nod, a smile, or just keep looking straight ahead. They get the point pretty quick.

Lately i've been getting more kids rolling down the window with their parents and smiling. If nobody is around, then a few quick downshifts and whoosh noises never hurt anyone.

Personally I usually just ignore them but then again not many cars do that where I am at luckily. The ones that do are usually younger kids screwing around and its not worth the hassle or potential damages that can be caused.

Whaaaat??? No race on a crowded roadway? My technique: Line lock a few seconds to set the smoke ambiance, 8K launch, Rev limter each gear thru at least 3rd, lower your window and do a full arm extension firm bird flip-off, cruise on down the road with "Slow Ride" blasting. Yeah, that sends the message...

This! I just did this to two kids in a C6 an hour ago. Pulled up next to me at a BUSY intersection. I gave the nod and had it in manual mode in first, light turned green and I grabbed the paddle at like 3k and watched them speed off. If it were an empty road though...

This just happened to me yesterday. I live near a highway thats a known race area and I get bothered by rice burners and v6 mustangs on the daily. I just smile and wave. It's not worth a ticket. I've been there. Unless its a friend on an absolute empty street with no side streets I ignore everyone else.

this happens all the time with me. Twice the person next to me didn't see the cruiser(either behind us or waiting on the other side of the intersection) peeled off when the light turned green and got those blue lights on them. I just laughed as I roll by. Never go full retard.

One thing that drives me nuts about my car.

Unless I'm crawling away from the stoplight it always sounds like I'm trying to race. The high revs of the coyote matched with the exhaust and supercharger....anything above Grandma crawling away from a light will sound like I'm giving it a go.

You know how people sometimes switch lanes and go behind the car they think is gonna leave the light faster? I live to disappoint them
