I have actually had a lot of progress on AWD 5.0. I have been driving it quite a bit all summer, pushing the envelope.
First, the exhaust sounds amazing, one of the best mods on the car. I highly recommend this setup.
I had a few set backs getting the larger 1050x injectors working, but that is working now and I am running a 2.9in pulley on the Odin making about 13-14 psi and it pulls VERY strong. I still plan on pulleying it down to get 15-16 psi but I may be on the limit of the 6 rib setup.
Otherwise, NVH in the car has been pretty good, not perfect, but VERY acceptable. I will absolutely be taking the LSD out of the front diff in the off season though, it really makes the car squirrely on uneven pavement. It caught me off guard a few times. I don't think it is required on the street at all, the car has plenty of traction.
One of the let downs though has been the clutch I covered in the last video. It it not nearly as smooth as I would have hoped. So far it is holding the power, but it is not what I want long term. I am not sure what the solution is quite yet.
But now the clutch has a new problem, it is sticking to the floor at high RPM
I put a clutch stop in to try and address it make sure I was not over traveling the pressure plate, but that did not solve it.
I went to the 1/8 mile track last Saturday and my best time was in the 7.40 range at 103 mph with a 1.8 60 ft. OK, not great. Some of that is driver error for sure. I need a LOT more practice.
But as the day progress and I got more aggressive the clutch situation got worse and I had a lot of aborted runs. My best 60ft was in the 1.6 range but I had to abort the run when the clutch stuck. The rev limit is set to 7800 and if I shifted in the low 7000 it would actually be ok, but once again my skills would let me down on many runs and I would rev to high by accident and the clutch would stick.
I am going to the 1/4 mile track next weekend. I am going to dial in the clutch stop a bit more and also lower the rev limit to 7200-7400 and see if that temporary fixes the problem enough to at least practice my launches and get some good 60ft times.
But, in general the car is working pretty well and has proven to me that it is worth all of the work I have put into it.
