I have actually had a lot of progress on AWD 5.0. I have been driving it quite a bit all summer, pushing the envelope.

First, the exhaust sounds amazing, one of the best mods on the car. I highly recommend this setup.

I had a few set backs getting the larger 1050x injectors working, but that is working now and I am running a 2.9in pulley on the Odin making about 13-14 psi and it pulls VERY strong. I still plan on pulleying it down to get 15-16 psi but I may be on the limit of the 6 rib setup.

Otherwise, NVH in the car has been pretty good, not perfect, but VERY acceptable. I will absolutely be taking the LSD out of the front diff in the off season though, it really makes the car squirrely on uneven pavement. It caught me off guard a few times. I don't think it is required on the street at all, the car has plenty of traction.

One of the let downs though has been the clutch I covered in the last video. It it not nearly as smooth as I would have hoped. So far it is holding the power, but it is not what I want long term. I am not sure what the solution is quite yet.

But now the clutch has a new problem, it is sticking to the floor at high RPM:) I put a clutch stop in to try and address it make sure I was not over traveling the pressure plate, but that did not solve it.

I went to the 1/8 mile track last Saturday and my best time was in the 7.40 range at 103 mph with a 1.8 60 ft. OK, not great. Some of that is driver error for sure. I need a LOT more practice.

But as the day progress and I got more aggressive the clutch situation got worse and I had a lot of aborted runs. My best 60ft was in the 1.6 range but I had to abort the run when the clutch stuck. The rev limit is set to 7800 and if I shifted in the low 7000 it would actually be ok, but once again my skills would let me down on many runs and I would rev to high by accident and the clutch would stick.

I am going to the 1/4 mile track next weekend. I am going to dial in the clutch stop a bit more and also lower the rev limit to 7200-7400 and see if that temporary fixes the problem enough to at least practice my launches and get some good 60ft times.

But, in general the car is working pretty well and has proven to me that it is worth all of the work I have put into it.

Just now read up on your build, what an amazing journey and engineering effort. Has this thing been reviewed or driven by an online magazine or source? Because if not, it needs to be!

I disagree. It needs to be reviewed by ALL automotive magazines.

That would be tough to do right now considering the system is not completely vetted. The first thing a reviewer would do is compare it to a comparable RWD mustang build. Drag strip, street launch, road course, rain, snow etc. Attempting to prove which vehicle had the advantage and where. Front/rear/center differentials and electronic control makes modern day awd systems shine. Is it practical in the sense of cost or performance? Idk, but I like it.

I agree, the car needs some more tweaks before it is truly ready for prime time, but it is getting close.

Personally, I have some pretty high standards for what I want the car to be. I want it to be as if Ford had made an AWD Mustang. I am not and have never intended to build a "YouTube" car that may be impressive online, but you know for a fact would be a nightmare to deal with in real life.

I made it to the 1/4 mile track on Sunday and had an awesome time flogging the crap out of the car. I started out with a very conservative tune on the car, but slowly tweaked it a bit. The goal was to get a 10 sec pass and after 18+ runs I finally did it.

There is a lot more left in it for sure.

This was on a pump gas tune and street tires.

I am hoping for something in the mid 10's on 93 and street tires long term. Remember it is a stick with an organic clutch and street tires. The beauty of the AWD is I can do this kind of acceleration on an un-prepped street:)

Hard to tell, but were you short shifting at 5500-6K? instead of up at 7K?

GREAT project BTW, and this kind of driving shows how robust your build is. BRAVO!

Thanks!

I was trying to shift in the low 7000 range. I had to rev limiter set to 7550. I have normally had it set to 7800 but the clutch was sticking to the floor and so I lowered it down a bit. I made a clutch stop to help that. I am going to try and take the clutch spring out all together and see if that helps. I currently have a Steeda spring installed.

The car definitely likes revving higher from a time standpoint.

I guess you already replaced the plastic line from clutch master to slave with stainless or braided?
