Lower mass will not affect torque delivery to the rear wheels and the reduced rotational mass/inertia would theoretically improve acceleration but the gains are minimized by the small diameter of the shaft. You'd be further ahead if you want more responsive dynamic characteristics by concentrating on reducing the mass of the flywhee/torque converter and also lightweight wheels.

According to the posts here every one they
I have been following the driveshaft threads for a while and nobody has posted the weight of the stock A10 driveshaft compared to any other driveshaft. Does anyone have any weights and better yet a dyno sheet if it improved torque to the rear wheels?
lighter driveline parts always make/free-power

This isn't an S550 but effects would be similar

Wonder why?
they are focused on suspension, and sold all their equipment.

and alot of them were irs cars and most people with an irs complain once they go to a 1 piece, even theirs, so better just not to worry about it for them.

you can't set a pinion angle on an irs car, the mustang / camaro / hemi guys, probably 50% of the people no matter the brand they buy end up complaining about either nvh or vibration, and swince it's such a small part of their business they chose to just get out of it.

Tons of good reviews, we need to get rid of it.

Taking off a stock part specifically made to eliminate all of the harshest forms of NVH and replace it with a 1-peice unit designed for performance only and complain about NVH. Imagine that probability.

I think Nissan with the 350Z was the first to make a production 1-peice unit from carbon fiber and mass produce it for OEM spec to absolutely sell as many as possible. I'm pretty sure it was heavier than anything aftermarket as well.

What I find odd is there is nothing available for an 18+ S550 except the tremec equipped cars, not in carbon fiber, not in aluminum.

How bad was the vibration on these QA1 shafts? Is a carbon fiber shaft really necessary or just a want for those, who run them? I’m not judging those that have them, because I was one, who had to upgrade to an aluminum 1 piece.

CF never crossed my mind because I feel that although they’re strong, their integrity can be easily compromised if a rock or piece of road debris bounce up and hits it.

That’s not true we’ve been selling the carbon fiber from DSS for the 15 to 17 automatic manual and 18 to 23 and 24 and up

We’ve been selling those for years

What year is your car and is it automatic or manual?

Here you go in aluminum. There was at least one person (maybe two) in my DS thread with this shaft on their 10R80 cars and there was talk of vibration. Mine is an MT82-D4 tranny and it’s very smooth and I didn’t have to clock it at all. I did shim my tranny crossmember with 1/4” spacers to change the pinion angle.

Everyone used to have 18+ shafts, in both aluminum and CF for the mt82- d4 and the 10R80. But now there is nothing out there.

So they're just clearing out current stock and once everything is gone, it's gone? I'd been wanting to pick up a QA1 CF DS for years now...
