I don't think it really matters. All exhaust pulses enter the center and equalize in the middle of the X upon exit. On an H pipe, there is equalization but it's obvious not all exhaust pulses enter the center "chamber". You'll see differences only in X vs H rather than X vs X. I have a feeling increased backpressure plays a role in the X equalization chamber, thus why you get a little more power out of an X vs H.
