The stupid part was Alabama owns the super speedway and the surrounding property and when Harley told the state they were moving the state offered them 50 acres behind the speedway at 50 cents on the dollar to build their own secure test grounds and they turned the state down. Since we did all of our durability and special testing inside the speedway grounds and our testing was impacted twice a year by the nascar races for a week and half and then the Dale Jarrett racing experience was coming the Dega about 3-4 times a year which also impacted testing. So instead of buying the land and building their own secure testing ground they chose to pack up all the test infrastructure and move to Arizona.

Same crap in Ontario Canada. At first they made the shops pay a boatload for the dynos and then 10 years later made them rip them out and now use the OBD2 ports. to make up the lost revenue, they mad the shops buy the government issued tablets to do safety inspections with. 700 dollars. And they have to photograph everything about the car on the tablet. Tire dates, vin, etc. One lady had a failure because her seat upholstery was ripped.

I live over in Sonoma and just curious how the cop knew you did not have cats? No way he could know that to initiate a car stop. Wondering what his probable cause to stop you was. Is your car absurdly loud? How did he determine you did not have them? I’m interested to know how that went down. Also, wondering how many E85 stations you have over in Vacaville since I think we only have one in my entire county that sells it. Seems pretty limiting on where you can get fuel.

Exactly. There is no way that the cop had probable cause, so that's why the cop let him go. Thats what I was thinking anyway

Here's an update on my situation. I fabed in the gen2 Gesi cats. It seemed to be a success for 2 months and then started getting the efficiency codes. In short, if this happens, and I say if because it seems to be hit and miss, you live with the light, which is fine but irritating.

The upside, is the car will run fine. It will disable FAOSC, and the trims will be OK as long as the front O2s are in good shape and only a few years old. The down side...you pass an emmisions check.

Tuners can no longer turn the check engine light off and software will noblonger let you do it

You can smell it. Super easy to detect between that and the sound

I do it myself with HP Tuners, FORScan or the SCT handheld. That's why I was asking I wasn't sure if he was talking about handhelds

Not true. As a matter of fact pp1, 2 and 3 are are carb legal, are emissions parts ( tune, intake manifold, cold air intake, throttle body, etc) and are aftermarket parts even if sold by ford racing
Some superchargers are also carb legal
Please link the state law that you’re talking about
Epa and carb have different rules and requirements.
Carb is much stricter therefore it’s not surprising that a part can be epa legal but not carb legal
Conversely, a carb legal is always a epa legal part

Im not sure what you are referring to. Im talking GESI cats here, not super chargers or throttle bodies. GESIs have an EPA numbers not CARB.

In the newer editions HP has eliminated the ability to shut off emissions lights and systems.

Some back door goodness our congress has blocked states from imposing emission standards tougher than the feds. About time IMO. This will block the EV mandates and other tom foolery.

It will get challenged in court but Congress does have this authority under the commerce clause among others.
