The Gensi Gen 2 UHO are far superior to the OEM and function to OEM standards since they have an EPA number, however some laws state that only OEM emissions parts can be used. This has nothing to do with environment if that's the case.
Not true. As a matter of fact pp1, 2 and 3 are are carb legal, are emissions parts ( tune, intake manifold, cold air intake, throttle body, etc) and are aftermarket parts even if sold by ford racing
Some superchargers are also carb legal
Please link the state law that you’re talking about
Epa and carb have different rules and requirements.
Carb is much stricter therefore it’s not surprising that a part can be epa legal but not carb legal
Conversely, a carb legal is always a epa legal part

if carb cared about emissions superchargers wouldn't be legal. its all about revenue and making aftermarket parts suppliers pay the tax to get the badge

And my previous statement seems to hold. It has less to do with the environment and more a make money/make work project.

We could go back to making horsepower the old fashion way...650 cubic inches, 13 to 1 compression, big heads and big roller cams....I'll bet that's worse than a supercharger.

I much prefer those days myself more than the bloated overweight electronic nightmares on today roads.

I had a 64 goat that got as good of mileage as most new muscle cars do now if you kept your foot out of the tri power. 18 mpg around town and 22 mpg on the highway at 80 mph. 12.70 in the 1/4 mile.

I built a 496 cubic inch Mopar the I had in a Charger that made 650hp and 630 lb ft of torque at 2800 rpm. It was all done by 6000rpm but it pushed a 3600lb dodge charger to mid 10s. At 130mph. It ran on 93 octane. The gallon tank would last awhile if I kept my foot out of the 1050 dominator.

My goat was a 389 tri power 4 speed Muncie close ratio with a 3.30 posi rear end. Delete AC, PS, PB, 4 wheel drum brakes with single cylinder MC, no sound proofing or mastic, no carpet only vinyl floor covering, no seat belts, no spackle paint in trunk and weighed 2875 pounds. It was the model that Fred Wagners and John DeLorean snuck under GM corporates nose to start the muscle car craze in the USA. It had a 355 CFM Rochester center carb and 2 500 CFM outer dumpers for a total of 1355 CFM.

I miss that car.

Problem is that very few manufacturers go through the certification process because it’s cumbersome and expensive
BINGO! Now you have identified the problem. Such a cumbersome and expensive system is designed to disincentivize the production of aftermarket products. Then CARB, which is entirely staffed by the Governors picks (read payback to campaign donors) who have no qualifications for the jobs, creates mandates, regulations, and rules. None of which are laws passed by the Assembly and Senate or signed into law by the Governor.

So what you have a bunch of goo goo imbeciles creating all of these so called “Laws” to line the pockets of the supporters of the Governor. It is just like the Mafia selling fire insurance to a bodega.

I will suggest, once again, going back to Willie Brown and following the money. Once you do you will plainly see that CARB has absolutely nothing to do with protecting people and creating clean air. It’s all about the Benjamin’s Baby.

You know emissions standards are a joke as soon as they went to plug in testing.

If they really cared it would be tail pipe sniffing only.

The problem with tailpipe sniffing is they cannot repeat the results using the same vehicle over different days due to so many variables that have to be accounted for from atmospheric to vehicle parameters. Back in 1996 when the IM240 testing laws were about to take effect they found that out by not being able to run repeated tests and get identical results on one test vehicle.

When at Harley as research and development mechanic the emissions lab had to run EPA emission testing on the bikes under very strict guidelines of numerous variables in order to meet the EPA test parameters for passing certification. Some days they could not test due to atmospheric conditions not within testing parameters.

This makes my point only in a different way.

Remember the smog dyno? And remember when the bid was given to a close friend of Willie’s in Colorado? And, it was the only dyno that was approved! If it walks like a duck…

Same crap in Ontario Canada. At first they made the shops pay a boatload for the dynos and then 10 years later made them rip them out and now use the OBD2 ports. to make up the lost revenue, they mad the shops buy the government issued tablets to do safety inspections with. 700 dollars. And they have to photograph everything about the car on the tablet. Tire dates, vin, etc. One lady had a failure because her seat upholstery was ripped.

When Harley moved their test faculty next the Talladega super speedway in 09 when the economy tanked to Yucca, Arizona to the old Ford Motor company proving grounds and tried to do EPA emission testing they could not complete any tests since Arizona's humidity levels are next to nothing, so they had to install a 5 million dollar air handling system to create its own atmospheric equivalent of the conditions we have in Alabama most every day just to complete any emissions testing.

We did 80% of all research and development testing for Harley here in Bama from 82 until 09. Harley big wigs estimated the move from Bama to Arizona would cost them 5 million bucks but ended up costing over 25 million when it was all done and all testing, we did here was finally possible in Arizona.
