Hey everyone,

I just wanted to check in with a basic question.

2018 pp1 10r80 5.0 and I enjoy driving the car to work and for errands a couple times a week/ends. I like the run what you brung mentality and enjoy the car with its drag set up on.

Is there any concern for driving around like this frequently? Or driving it for 200 miles with the set up? How much would it affect the spedo?

17x10 VMS wheels with 305/45/17 nitto 555r2's.

Thanks for any advice.

Beauty, love to see it.

Yea I don't really drive it in the rain and check the weather if I am heading to work. Luckily here in SW Ontario I only live 20 min from work and there is always paved side roads available to drive home on if I am caught in the rain.

TBH the Nitto 555r2's have been pretty good in the rain. I have been thinking of switching to a Mickey Thompson tire, for a little more performance/stick. What do you drive on?

Awesome, do you race at the 1/4 mile with em? How do they perform?

Seems like a bad idea to me but to each their own. Do you overinflate the slicks or run on low pressure? Not sure either is good for what you want to do.

Can you articulate why its a bad idea? Honestly looking for info not being sarcatic.

I run around 28-32 PSI cold on them.

I believe the R2s are 100% meant as a daily tire given their description. I see lots of posts with people doing it.

I run the Street SS in a 315/30/R20 now that MT has that size at 21 PSI. No issues. Same compound as the Street R with slightly more grooves for hydroplane resistance or so they say. Best grip of any tire I've used for straight line performance. Terrifying if overinflated.

Cant be caught not prepared ;)

Great looking set up man!

Is that also a 17x10 wheel? My concern was for the transmission and rear diff constantly driving a 17" wheel.

How do you like the nitto 555r2's?

Thanks for the post brotha.

I am assuming the tires for drag racing run on say 14psi for the best traction and full contact patch. Running on the street at that pressure would be dangerous. Overinflating would wear the center section and drag tires are thinner and susceptable to a blowout from debris you might not see whereas on a dragstrip it is a clean surface. And it the tires are stamped "NOT FOR STREET USE" then I would assume there is a cop somewhere waiting to hand you a ticket and the surcharge that comes with it.

Just my opinion, that is all. And I am in no way being a douche bag even if it seems so.

Don't think you are being a douche at all man! Are you familiar with drag radials? They are not slicks but mean for both track and street use. They a use a much softer compound and wear out much quicker. My Nitto 555r2's have a treadwear rating of only 100 and they are almost done their life span with 3k miles on em, but I have done a shit ton of burn outs with them haha.

I love them on the street. I will get another set of wheels for the track with MT/SS I had trouble launching these at the track. Street is perfect though. 11.40s @124 with a not so good launch at the track. Final tire size OD is transmission friendly. No issues. I do highly recommend this set up

For a daily I run a 19" Nitto, 24psi

Wonder if a 17" would be worth it on the street. It's a stick so it's never going to go hard off the line but I can hit 2nd at a 40 roll and that's good enough
