Not sure why or how testing the oil keeps coming up. In any case, I guess I didn't really miss it since it seems no one pays attention to the specs anyway. Just in case anyone else is ever interested I am just going to note that Ford says to use SN Plus in in a stock engine, and this is from Motul's website

The Motorcraft 5W-50 shears from a 50wt to a 40wt in a hurry then to a 30wt.
You should consider heading over to BITOG and search for Motorcraft 5W-50.

Wow, didn't think of amazon lol and your right 5W50 weight is a ballbreaker to find in stores. Forget Wal mart they never have, sadly........ Hence the reason i just buy everything from rockauto, oil, filter and 2 bottles of ceratec every oil change. Thanks for the tip and link! greatly appreciate it!!! =)

Another option is the CE Titanium 0w40 for almost half the price. A quality A3/B4 oil at that spec is as good if not better than the basic MC 5w50 that dealers use.

Where do you buy? Trying to find 5W50 is a ballbreaker unless dealer or rockauto.

I know this is an older thread but oil changes always need done, Summit Racing sells about 30 different 5w50's

10W40 is easier to find, and cheaper than Motorcraft 5W50. Mobil or Castrol full synthetics at Wally World.

And, the oil geeks will tell you (and show you tests) that Castrol 10W40 will not shear down as far as a wide-range oil like Motorcraft 5W50 will. Who's driving their supercharged car in freezing temperatures anyway? So don't worry about the first number being a 10.

Why not a 0w40? They're just as easy to find and you don't have to worry about cold starts.

A quality synthetic like Amsoil or Motul or PUP or M1 Euro will hold its viscosity.

Not worried about cold starts

0-40 won't stay as thick as a 10-40 of the same brand either way (because of all the VI improvers that will shear down)

The past two years I bought the oil from NAPA. They have Castrol Edge 5W50 for $5.79/qt.
