Hey, looking for advice on what oil to use. I have a whipple on my 2015 and I'm in Houston. I am worried that 5w20 is too thin for the summer heat and spirited driving. It's a street car, but i do drive it hard at times to enjoy the HP. Thanks in advance.

    I would try 5W30.
Most turbo engines asks for 5W30 full synthetic.

5w/30 is Fords recommendation for Aussie cars (completely stock).
I went with Castrol Magnatec (full synthetic, 5w/30) A5 I think it is.

Castrol edge 0w 40 European blend. Ran this in my tuned 15 and it was awesome. Gives you that extra layer of protection but it’s not too thick.

I've been very tempted to use pennzoil euro 5w40 because it's a full SAPS A3/b4, api sn, and has the group 3+ base oil. However, that is higher viscosity than what the manual says.

On my 2018, the manual allows for 5w30 for track use. I'm debating on either pennzoil ultra platinum 5w30, which worked great in my supercharged 2015 f-150, or castrol a3/b4 5w30. The castrol is full SAPS and has a higher HTHS (high temp high shear viscosity), so it's more of a performance oil, plus it has a higher TBN for long drain intervals. However, it lacks the group 3+ base oil and the SAPS are too high for the api SN rating so it is only SL.

Roush recommends 5W-50 for their supercharged cars.

Just saw that. Whipple does as well for the 2018's, as of mid july.

Looks like motorcraft, castrol, and mobil1 are the only mainstream 5w50's. And castrol probably makes the motorcraft.

When I emails Roush they replied with "whatever the manufacture recommendation is, what's on your oil cap"....I have a 2015 phase 3, now I have to email them again and ask questions because their 2017 roush manual says 5w20 or 5w50.

    Roush's second response.

For the 2018 we suggest 5w50 for all applications. For the 2015-2017 we do not switch out the oil when we install superchargers. However, we do recommend 5w50 when the vehicle is drive hard such as racing conditions.

I'd love to know what happened behind he scenes for whipple and roush to both switch to 5w50 with such strong wording, while leaving 15-17 alone.
