Be happy with your decision. I wish I had gone the 32% that's "legal" here. 20% is too dark (for me) in dimly lit areas at night, when parking.Tinted the windows. Went with 35% ceramic. I know they don't usually enforce the tint laws around here, but still didn't want to go too dark. Such a better look.
A lot of the northeast states supposedly have laws that say anything below 70% is illegal -which is obviously ridiculous. In PA, it's actually a PennDot regulation, which doesn't actually create laws, so therefore technically cannot be enforced,. PA law just says you need to be able to see inside the vehicle.Be happy with your decision. 70% seems not right, considering SUV’s, minivans, etc that come “tinted” from factory are 20% in the back windows and rear windshield. I use tinted in quotes because it’s a dye and not tint film, but it’s the equivalent to 20% tint film. Here in IL it’s 35% front windows, 20% rear and no tint allowed on front windshields.A lot of the northeast states supposedly have laws that say anything below 70% is illegal -which is obviously ridiculous. That's what I read on the internet at least, so I'm sure it's true (Com. vs Brubaker).
No regulation on rear windows on trucks/anything on a truck chassis..70% seems not right, considering SUV’s, minivans, etc that come “tinted” from factory are 20% in the back windows and rear windshield. This is correct at least in New York. I had the windows in my Audi S5 done in the least dark tint the installer carries last summer. I just had car inspected yesterday. My trusted indy said if he didn't know me, he would NOT has done the inspection. I also stated the OEM's are WAY darker, how's that OK? All I know is dark OEM's OK but must be 70% for tint. Gotta love NY!!!70% seems not right, considering SUV’s, minivans, etc that come “tinted” from factory are 20% in the back windows and rear windshield.

Interesting that they split it out that way. We’ve got tons of people that have 5-10% on their front windshield and they never get bothered by law enforcement. Heck, some of my friends that are officers have 15-20% on their personal car windshields. It seems to be one of those where if you’re not causing any other problems, they leave you alone. Bigger fish to fry sorta thing. Now, I have seen a guy with reflective tints get pulled over. Not sure if it was just for that or for some other shenanigans, though. No regulation on rear windows on trucks/anything on a truck chassis..

Having said that, From 2009 - 2017 I had a Toyota Tacoma with 20% tint and was never bothered about it.
