If you're a drag racer or you prefer an automatic trans, then I will concede the 18+ A10 cars are faster than the 6R80, albeit the 6R80 has a reputation for being more durable and less temperamental in general, which is good if you're going forced induction.

If you're a manual trans guy, I think people are really sleeping on the 15-17 cars. The Ford Performance Power Pack Level 3 puts you at 470+ hp. For suspension, the @Steeda catalog has anything you need to meet or exceed Mach 1 capability. Total investment would probably be about half of what a '24 would cost...

Coming from a ‘16 GT at 435, I can’t fell or see a difference. I always felt my ‘16 was underrated. So I f your upgrading for HP alone, save your money.
My 2016 was an absolute beast.

Go for what fits your budget, but low mileage 18-23 S550's are the best bang for your buck bargain on the market today.
If an automatic transmission is desired, you are correct 18-23 all the way. If manual trans is the game, the 15-17 cars are easy to upgrade power and the trans ratios are WAY better making the stick shift a pretty level playing field from a performance standpoint, and they are cheaper.

I drove a '24 Ecoboost and Manual GT Coupe. Only reason I'd take new to used is for just that, new, otherwise I'll save some $$$ with a pre-loved GT

Well, asking about a 24' on the 6G forums is asking for an abundant of bias answers and blasphemy. With that being said, I came from an S550 (15, 18 and now 24) 24 is easily better in each category. No, the analog forever guys are never going to co-sign on the big screens & will always defend their purchase. Never lost a race to an S550 including a non-hp Mach so not sure about that video either. Now that we got that out of the way, NO, it's not a huge leap in design or performance. Go for what fits your budget, but low mileage 18-23 S550's are the best bang for your buck bargain on the market today.
Sure, no doubt better. It certainly had better be! But it’s an utter downgrade as far as looks. Like I said earlier, great running gear, but a fail in the looks department.

I’ll wait until an aftermarket front and real bumper are released. Then decide.

I’d love that dash though. It’s modern and the way all dashes are these days.

Personal preference I guess. My S650 looks way better than either of my S550's 🤷‍♂️ I like parking next to them so I can fully realize how bubbly they actually look like side by side.
lol. Yea, personal preference for sure.

Bubbly? Car has been out for 9 years and that’s the first time I’ve heard that. I’ve heard mean, angular, sharp, aggressive, beautiful and a myriad of other compliments. But never bubbly.

Have you parked beside a newer Hyundai to compare the back ends or a Dodge Camaro or take your pick and compare the fronts? Those would be the more comparables.

I think the ‘24s have great running gear but ford screwed up the styling. I’ve heard it quoted as the Mustang II of this generation.

Enjoy your car! It looks better sitting inside driving than in a parking lot, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing.

I agree with the gen 2 and 3 looking bubbly, also the 24 makes 2023 and older dashboards look like a model T, or something left over from the 50s-60s. Just SO OLD.

This has got to be the most overblown, ridiculous statement in this thread. Ford tried to go BMW and didn't come close-lost good actual Mustang heritage cues in the process. You got glued on iPads-not even good ones as they are laggy as hell. Hooray! Such modernity! Such innovation. Lol. The doors are the same, the seats are the same...center storage same...practically everything is the same. Some slightly better surfaces in some places but hard plastic still abounds...including the flimsy half ass center console area. Give me the subdued toggles all day. S550 had same heated/cooled, Apple Car Play, cruise options and other driver aids. Know what you didn't get with this so called "digital upgrade"...a PDR or heads up or any actual useful digital upgrades the Camaro has had since 2016. You got plenty of Camaro external cues though.

Looking at the 2024's. 486 HP is tempting but the price isn't. What year specific year model would you look at instead of the 2024 for good performance ? Thanks.

I bought a 2023 GT new because I prefer the look to the 2024GT (I still do!)

Went on leave and drove my friend's 2024 GT. Was a huge hater until I drove it. It's a nice car but felt exactly as fast as my stock 2019 and the interior was killing me. The interior doesn't look reminiscent of anything mustang to me. Would not consider selling my PP2 for one currently. Especially since an S550 gets you 99.99% of the performance of an S650 for cheaper.

Exactly, unless you're in the market specifically for something new and can get a AXZ discount, stay with 18-23 model year for the 10R80's and 15-17 for the MT-82's. The hate for the 24 isn't warranted just how Ford priced and marketed it as a completely new generation when in reality it's a mid-scale refresh.
For some people the new body style finally converted them. The friend who bought it wanted a 6th Gen SS for years until he saw the 2024 GT and loved it. It just pains me that he spent almost $50k on a base model 2024 GT when he could damn near be in a GT350 for the same money.

I hope they do an auto match up. Shows the S650 didn't make any real gains. The Mach 1 is slightly heavier and has more downforce. A Dark Horse match up would be cool to see too but that car is heavier. On a side note, the S550 rear end is so much better...that S650 Camaro bumper is way too busy and the decklid needs that differentiation of the black color.
Wow I've never seen the two ass ends side by side. The s650 rear end is horrendous. That huge plastic bumper, the awful taillights.....yuck. Such a downgrade from the s550.

People converted when they saw the “new” Mustang? Doubtful… it’s the only game in town for an American v8 with a manual.

If anything, there’s American v8 converts coming over from Chevy and dodge looking for just that - a v8 manual. No one I’ve spoken to puts the “new” Mustang into the category of awesome looking. No one is buying it for the looks. But it has great running gear!
