I carry in my pocket with the thought that if they want my car, they likely also want my wallet, they likely do not know which pocket I keep my wallet in so reaching in a pocket with them assuming I am going to give up my wallet will result in them being confronted with my weapon instead. Definitely not a fool proof scenario but if exercised discreetly could be all that is needed to change the course of the final result. I have fully thought out my mindset in such a situation and will absolutely not hesitate to be the first to pull the trigger.

He who hesitates loses in all such cases so it's all or nothing for me.

Mine stays in the center console and if someone makes me nervous I take it out and hold it in my lap.

I practice situational awareness and try to leave an escape route even at stop lights. Can't always do it but I try.

At work, we took self defense driving courses. A couple of things that stood out: at a stop sign or traffic signal, leave enough space between you and the car in front, so if a situation arises, you're able to pull out and drive off. I try to avoid the middle lane at stop lights, if possible. The other one is try to park facing out in a parking space so you're able to pull straight out, without backing up. Our sidearms should mostly be a deterrent, but sometimes things happen.

Gonna share a tactical approach for you guys…….Keep a money clip with a wad of $1 bills covered maybe with a $10 on the outside.
You get a perp trying to rob you, throw the wad of bills in one direction and either defend your position or GTH outta there. The safest gunfight is the one that never happens. :like:
Spent just a little time garbage collecting for free. :like:

At night, I never pull up along side someone. I always stop with my front a few feet back. I feel it gives me an advantage: I can see them and their activity, while they have to look behind. It's a simple thing. You never know who you're pulling up to late night or early morning. And you never know what might set them off.

Always on me unless I have some kind of medical appointment, then it stays in the car. I've changed to compacts over the last few years though. Same applied when I was carrying full size too.

Depending on the weather/temperature, cold and wearing a jacket or coat shoulder holster along with my apex carry weapon. I always apex carry in warm/hot weather. Colder weather I always carry a BUG. Belly holster works also that I use in cooler weather but harder to draw from. Weapons always on my person as I would never leave in vehicle, too many stolen from vehicles. Mustangs have door side pockets if you have to just make sure it stays in place and doesn’t slide you could utlise it as your rolling out of the vehicle. I live in a free state and also have a CC license which I utilize all the time and don’t go to surrounding states that don’t reciprocate. If it’s not on you where or when you can utilize it when safe to do so it’s just something a dishonest person can have access to if you have to leave it behind. Good advice from mindo389 which also stands good anytime your stopped, never know when someone not paying attention will rear end you. Different circumstances call for different courses of action; you gotta think is your life worth anything material. Never try to draw on someone that has the draw on you while they have their attention on you, you probably won’t beat them, drop keys, wallet etc to get them to change their focus if you have to draw remember no warning shots or commands to drop their weapon. If you have to eliminate the treat watch what you state as it WIIL BE USED AGAINST YOU.

As for carrying and being stopped, keep hands on steering wheel until you are sure LEO knows your no threat, I will let them know I’m carrying even when I’m not required to. Better for them to know then to see me reaching for my license and having weapon exposed and them freaking out and shooting me because they mistake me for a threat. Lots of states including mine will show you have a CC permit attached to your license, Maryland is famous for knowing that.

Stay safe be aware of your surroundings and remember is your life or the life of someone your with is worth material things.

I would hesitate on relying on a magnetic mount. A minor fender bender can send the weapon flying, and then it is out of your control.
Personally, when I carry, it is on me and secure. Every day I read the reports of weapons stolen from vehicles.
There are a couple of companies that make lock boxes for vehicles that also secure to the vehicle.
The pistol isn't really beneficial if you can't immediately access it. "Hello Mr car jacker, could you please wait a moment while I fumble around with this lock box and access my pistol"

I don't carry a full size pistol anywhere. Compact frames for me. And, honestly, the older I get the less I like the larger calibers anyway. But that's another discussion.
To answer your question I'll either have it sit atop the drivers seatbelt buckle or I tuck it between the passenger seat and center console. I've debated trying to figure out a mounted type of thing for it but haven't seen any that I like.
One of the gun magnets installed just using the two sided tape gives a few options. Personally I appendix carry a Sig 365 but I'm a southpaw. I completely agree about full framed for carry.

My full size M@P 45 is on me. It's a little big but I got used to it being on my hip. I've been carrying since the day I turned 18. Never not had a concealed carry since. Havent needed yet. Havent needed my flood insurance either but it doesn't stop me from having it. I Have a lock box when I go shoot in the not so friendly gun state of Massachusetts.

What you say is true. It is also very limited.
As the man said, best case is to always have it on your person. I don't, even though I should, but it is always in easy reach. I readily admit that won't help in every circumstance but that's what I choose.
However, and this is where your statement falters, if you drive a vehicle and carry you should have some means of securing the firearm if you're forced to leave it in the vehicle. Locking it in the glove box, console or trunk is not securing it. Some sort of secured to the vehicle lock box is needed. In other words, a lock box is not for convenience while driving but to secure it while you cannot have it on you.
