A GT with a Whipple and a Mach 1 are apples and oranges though.

If you just want to go straight really fast then yeah, super charge the GT and call it a day. The Mach one is a street legal track car with road manners.
I have a track pack installed on the car, its not quite like that. But sure, I think I could keep up with a mach1 just fine in the twistys, but on a track cooling will become an issue. Depends how much time you spend on the track (and really why not go for a 350 then?).

Because you can DD a M1 on the street if you want, or take it to the track where it's just as fast as a GT350 on the track out of the box. Also, there is a reason neither car is super charged. 😉

Well enjoy your m1 my friend just putting my 2c in. I could do the exact same with a few cooling mods. I don't know what you think an m1 has over a track pack that would make it that much better. Marginal gains for a premium imo, but that's just me.

I have decided to just pick and choose upgrades I want to my base gt. Figure I am still + money after all the upgrades and installs since I didn't get PP1. You can read all my mods in my spoiler. MACH1 is cool, but you can make a better car without the MACH1 name for cheaper IMO. I basically have a pp2 car and plan on putting on whipple in a couple months with the extra $$ I would spend on a mach1.
And that’s why the Mustang platform is the best out there, buy or make what you want easily.
It’s funny, for the last 9 years I’ve been semi- joking with the wife that I’m gettin a SuperCharger but hell no I’m not doing it for 3 reasons..
1- I’d be arrested
2- I’d be arrested
3- I’d be arrested
😂

I don't know if I got lucky and got a decent MT-82 or people just blow it out of proportion, get a shifter, trans mount and change the fluid. I have no problem with mine, even on the stock clutch still, about to hit 18k miles, supercharged it at 5k miles, should be close to 900whp now. No issues at all yet, knock on wood.

Not to mention youve already got the girl. Who else ya gonna impress? A bunch pimple faced teen boys?
A bunch of us gray hairs will be impressed. The pimple faces seem to be fixated on cars that have the exhaust note of a Taco Bell fart. At least around here

Update if anyone cares. Drove a roush edition mustang. Which is just an up badged GT appearance package, but gave me a good feel of magneride and a manual even though it's an mt-82. Haven't gotten in a mach 1 yet. But I very much enjoyed the manual, granted I only spent maybe 20 min with it. It didn't feel bad to me, was expecting it to feel like i was rowing gears with a pool noodle.

Side note not sure what they did to that exhaust but it sounded amazing.

I drove a rousch last week also . That had rear cooler and larger wheels etc.... I would compare it to a HP M1. More money as expected.

Yea issue is they are at M1 prices, if I'm paying that I care more for the mach 1 and I'd have a tremec over the mt-82.

Listen no one is downplaying the GTs. The Mach 1 is just packaged really nicely, you can make a GT just as good or better its the same platform.....

That being said, when I had my GT it needed some work to get it where I wanted it. Getting the balance for right ratio of road manners to performance can be a challenge (you get rough ride, noisy suspension, etc). I just appreciate how well it does it all out of the box. And as a bonus the appearance, Tremec and Mach 1 name.

Having said that, I can't wait to add a whipple or procharger. I am sure your GT is way fun.

The MT82 is a fine transmission, the Tremec is just well.... better.

Granted I've never driven an MT82, but the horror stories online about notchy shifting and gear lockouts are enough to make me pass. Maybe it's over blown, Mayne it's not. But if the OPs primary reasoning is upgrading to a manual, I'd think the Tremec would be more attractive.
